SANGRUR: A young Congress worker Kamaldeep Singh of village Bhullarheri in Sangrur was found murdered on Saturday night. He was also a member of village Panchayat.

The 32-year-old victim had left the village in his car for Sangrur and his body was found on the road going towards Dhuri. Police, however, has denied any political angle behind the murder on the basis of initial investigations.

Pritpal Singh, cousin of Kamaldeep and resident of the same village said, "He had got a phone call on Saturday night and had picked up his car to go to Sangrur. He promised to be back in two hours. When he did not return even after three hours we were shocked when we dialed his mobile phone some unknown person had picked his phone and apprised that the body of the man is lying near Dhuri". We immediately reached at the spot and found that Kamaldeep' body was lying in a pool of blood. His body had many injury marks, he said.

Dhuri DSP Krishan Kumar Penthe said "Police is working on many theories and in the preliminary investigation it seemed case of personal enmity". Police has registered murder case against unknown persons.
