| |  | | | Sukhmani Sahib Astpadi 23 Sabad 5 / ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ੨੩ ਸਬਦ ੫
ਸਲੋਕੁ॥ Salok. Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi) ਗਿਆਨਅੰਜਨੁਗੁਰਿਦੀਆਅਗਿਆਨਅੰਧੇਰਬਿਨਾਸੁ॥ ਹਰਿਕਿਰਪਾਤੇਸੰਤਭੇਟਿਆਨਾਨਕਮਨਿਪਰਗਾਸੁ॥੧॥ Gi▫ān anjan gur ḏī▫ā agi▫ān anḏẖer binās. Har kirpā ṯe sanṯ bẖeti▫ā Nānak man pargās. ||1|| Creator gave the clarity powder of understanding, darkness of ignorance so destroyed. With creator’s blessing, met the pious learned and so enlightened the mind. ਅਸਟਪਦੀ॥ Asatpaḏī. Eight stanzas hymn ਆਪਿਸਤਿਕੀਆਸਭੁਸਤਿ॥ ਤਿਸੁਪ੍ਰਭਤੇਸਗਲੀਉਤਪਤਿ॥ Āp saṯ kī▫ā sabẖ saṯ. Ŧis parabẖ ṯe saglī uṯpaṯ. Self true, carried out all in truth. All creation created by such creator.
ਤਿਸੁਭਾਵੈਤਾਕਰੇਬਿਸਥਾਰੁ॥ ਤਿਸੁਭਾਵੈਤਾਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ॥ Ŧis bẖāvai ṯā kare bisthār. Ŧis bẖāvai ṯā ekankār. If so wish, then creates upheaval. If so wish, then become all alone by self as doer. ਅਨਿਕਕਲਾਲਖੀਨਹਜਾਇ॥ ਜਿਸੁਭਾਵੈਤਿਸੁਲਏਮਿਲਾਇ॥ Anik kalā lakẖī nah jā▫e. Jis bẖāvai ṯis la▫e milā▫e. So many powers, cannot be described. Who so likes, brings such closer. ਕਵਨਨਿਕਟਿਕਵਨਕਹੀਐਦੂਰਿ॥ ਆਪੇਆਪਿਆਪਭਰਪੂਰਿ॥ Kavan nikat kavan kahī▫ai ḏūr. Āpe āp āp bẖarpūr. Say, how close and how so far. By self and of self, so pervading everywhere by self. ਅੰਤਰਗਤਿਜਿਸੁਆਪਿਜਨਾਏ॥ ਨਾਨਕਤਿਸੁਜਨਆਪਿਬੁਝਾਏ॥੫॥ Anṯargaṯ jis āp janā▫e. Nānak ṯis jan āp bujẖā▫e. ||5|| Guiding higher state to the such by self. Nanak, such guides these to self by themselves. Quote: ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji recognize that inner darkness is wiped with understanding. Such understanding is greatly facilitated through blessing of pious company.
Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 23, 5th sabad describe the creativity of the creator. All based on truth, at times in upheaval if so wished, be the only one left to so create, so many powers beyond description and so blessed guided to knowing, near or far and so close if wishing to be so.
Guru ji conclude that the creator so enables and makes one realize from within the higher state. | Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.
