| |  | | | Sukhmani Sahib Astpadi 16 Sabad 7 / ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ੧੬ ਸਬਦ ੭
ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi) ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖ ਨ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਿੰਨ ॥ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ॥੧॥ Rūp na rekẖ na rang kicẖẖ ṯarihu guṇ ṯe parabẖ bẖinn. Ŧisėh bujẖā▫e nānkā jis hovai suparsan. ||1|| Creator is devoid of three in form, shape and color. Nanak only such are provided understanding, whom such is pleased with. ਅਸਟਪਦੀ॥ Asatpaḏī. Eight stanzas hymn ਸਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥ ਸਤਿ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ ॥ Saṯ bacẖan sāḏẖū upḏes. Saṯ ṯe jan jā kai riḏai parves. Eternal are teaching of the learned. Eternal are those that take it to heart. ਸਤਿ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਜੇ ਕੋਇ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ Saṯ niraṯ būjẖai je ko▫e. Nām japaṯ ṯā kī gaṯ ho▫e. If one discovers eternal love of so. Contemplating on the creator one achieves higher state. ਆਪਿ ਸਤਿ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਸਤਿ ॥ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਨੈ ਅਪਨੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਗਤਿ ॥ Āp saṯ kī▫ā sabẖ saṯ. Āpe jānai apnī miṯ gaṯ. Eternal by self and creation is eternal. By self knows limits and reach. ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸੁ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ॥ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਬੂਝਿ ਕਰਤ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ Jis kī sarisat so karṇaihār. Avar na būjẖ karaṯ bīcẖār. Creation is of one that is the creator. Others will not know by doing discourse. ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੀਆ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਵਰਤੀਆ ॥੭॥ Karṯe kī miṯ na jānai kī▫ā. Nānak jo ṯis bẖāvai so varṯī▫ā. ||7|| Creator cannot be estimated by one so created. Nanak what pleases so, such happens. Quote: ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji state that the creator has no form, shape or color and is understood by those so happily blessed.
Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 16, 7th sabad describe the eternal truth recognized by the pious, the creation so truth based of the creator and the creator so limitless and only knowing of self. One cannot know through just discourse the creator of the creation.
Guru ji conclude that no one can determine limits of the creator and what happens is so per the creator. | Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.
