| |  | | | Sukhmani Sahib Astpadi 16 Sabad 5 / ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ੧੬ ਸਬਦ ੫
ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi) ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖ ਨ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਿੰਨ ॥ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ॥੧॥ Rūp na rekẖ na rang kicẖẖ ṯarihu guṇ ṯe parabẖ bẖinn. Ŧisėh bujẖā▫e nānkā jis hovai suparsan. ||1|| Creator is devoid of three in form, shape and color. Nanak only such are provided understanding, whom such is pleased with. ਅਸਟਪਦੀ॥ Asatpaḏī. Eight stanzas hymn ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਜੰਤ ॥ ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ॥ Nām ke ḏẖāre sagle janṯ. Nām ke ḏẖāre kẖand barahmand. All life is supported by the creator. All world and universe is supported by the creator. ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ॥ ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਸੁਨਨ ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ॥ Nām ke ḏẖāre simriṯ beḏ purān. Nām ke ḏẖāre sunan gi▫ān ḏẖi▫ān. Ved, simiritiees and puraanas are supported by the creator. Listening to wisdom and contemplation is supported by the creator. ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਆਗਾਸ ਪਾਤਾਲ ॥ ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਆਕਾਰ ॥ Nām ke ḏẖāre āgās pāṯāl. Nām ke ḏẖāre sagal ākār. Sky and the below are supported by the creator. All bodies are supported by the creator. ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਪੁਰੀਆ ਸਭ ਭਵਨ ॥ ਨਾਮ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਰੇ ਸੁਨਿ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ॥ Nām ke ḏẖāre purī▫ā sabẖ bẖavan. Nām kai sang uḏẖre sun sarvan. All worlds and constellations are supported by the creator. Listening of the creator through the ears one is saved.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਨੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਾਏ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਚਉਥੇ ਪਦ ਮਹਿ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੫॥ Kar kirpā jis āpnai nām lā▫e. Nānak cẖa▫uthe paḏ mėh so jan gaṯ pā▫e. ||5|| With grace that such allows joining in contemplation. Nanak such find salvation in the fourth state (beyond worldly possessions).
Quote: ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji state that the creator has no form, shape or color and is understood by those so happily blessed.
Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 16, 5th sabad describe how all is associated with and is of the creator. Be it life, world and the universe, the wisdom and the ones listening to such wisdom, all bodies and the sky and below, the constellations and one so listening to all this are saved.
Guru ji conclude that such so blessed finds salvation beyond worldly possessions. | Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.
