ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi) ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖ ਨ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਿੰਨ ॥ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ॥੧॥ Rūp na rekẖ na rang kicẖẖ ṯarihu guṇ ṯe parabẖ bẖinn. Ŧisėh bujẖā▫e nānkā jis hovai suparsan. ||1|| Creator is devoid of three in form, shape and color. Nanak only such are provided understanding, whom such is pleased with. ਅਸਟਪਦੀ॥ Asatpaḏī. Eight stanzas hymn ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਨਾਨਾ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ॥ ਨਾਨਾ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਇਕ ਰੰਗ ॥ Nānā rūp nānā jā ke rang. Nānā bẖekẖ karahi ik rang. Many a forms, many a colors. Many semblances are, one still. ਨਾਨਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੁ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥ Nānā biḏẖ kīno bisthār. Parabẖ abẖināsī ekankār. Many methods to build. Indestructible creator everywhere as only one present. ਨਾਨਾ ਚਲਿਤ ਕਰੇ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਸਭ ਠਾਇ ॥ Nānā cẖaliṯ kare kẖin māhi. Pūr rahi▫o pūran sabẖ ṯẖā▫e. Many facades done in a moment. Complete creator is in completeness everywhere. ਨਾਨਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਨਤ ਬਨਾਈ ॥ ਅਪਨੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਈ ॥ Nānā biḏẖ kar banaṯ banā▫ī. Apnī kīmaṯ āpe pā▫ī. Many methods used to build the framework. Only self knows self worth. ਸਭ ਘਟ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਠਾਉ ॥ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥੪॥ Sabẖ gẖat ṯis ke sabẖ ṯis ke ṯẖā▫o. Jap jap jīvai Nānak har nā▫o. ||4|| All bodies and places belong to such. Nanak lives by contemplating and contemplating upon creator’s understanding. Quote: ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji state that the creator has no form, shape or color and is understood by those so happily blessed.
Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 16, 4th sabad describe the creator as of many colors and semblances but as one. Creation abounds created with many methods and in different forms. The invaluable one only knows self worth and all so created.
Guru ji conclude that all is of the creator and one lives by repeatedly contemplating upon the creator’s understanding. | Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.
