| |  | | | Sukhmani Sahib Astpadi 7 Sabad 8 / ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ੭ ਸਬਦ ੮
ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Salok ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਹੈ ਸੁ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ Agam agāḏẖ pārbarahm so▫e. Jo jo kahai so mukṯā ho▫e. The supreme creator is beyond reproach and infinite. Those who revere, such are salvaged. ਸੁਨਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬਿਨਵੰਤਾ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਅਚਰਜ ਕਥਾ ॥੧॥ Sun mīṯā Nānak binvanṯā. Sāḏẖ janā kī acẖraj kathā. ||1|| Listen friend, Nanak is praying. Pious people have uniquely different style. ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥ Asatpaḏī. Eight stanzas hymn ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਬੇਦ ਨ ਜਾਨਹਿ ॥ ਜੇਤਾ ਸੁਨਹਿ ਤੇਤਾ ਬਖਿਆਨਹਿ ॥ Sāḏẖ kī mahimā beḏ na jānėh. Jeṯā sunėh ṯeṯā bakẖi▫ānėh. The virtues of pious are not known through holy books. They just repeat what these hear. ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਤਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਰਹੀ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥ Sāḏẖ kī upmā ṯihu guṇ ṯe ḏūr. Sāḏẖ kī upmā rahī bẖarpūr. The stature of the pious beyond three qualities. The stature of the pious pervades everywhere. ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਅੰਤ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਦਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ॥ Sāḏẖ kī sobẖā kā nāhī anṯ. Sāḏẖ kī sobẖā saḏā be▫anṯ. The stature of the pious cannot be delimited. The stature of the pious is infinite. ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਊਚ ਤੇ ਊਚੀ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਮੂਚ ਤੇ ਮੂਚੀ ॥ Sāḏẖ kī sobẖā ūcẖ ṯe ūcẖī. Sāḏẖ kī sobẖā mūcẖ ṯe mūcẖī. The stature of the pious is higher than the highest. The stature of the pious greater than the greatest. ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਾਧ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥੮॥੭॥ Sāḏẖ kī sobẖā sāḏẖ ban ā▫ī. Nānak sāḏẖ parabẖ bẖeḏ na bẖā▫ī. ||8||7|| The stature of the pious only fits the pious. Nanak there is no divide between pious and the creator. Quote: ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji state the in-finiteness of the creator and enormous value in of knowing so for salvation. Guru ji find the company and the virtues of the pious as being with the likeness of creator.
Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 7, 8th and last stanza in this Astpadi summarize the exalted status of the pious. No books can describe the virtues of the pious, greater than greatest and higher than highest the status and status.
Guru ji conclude that the pious come closest to illustrating qualities of the creator. | Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.
