Seeing Bir Khalsa Dal, one cannot help but think: what if every Sikh at that time had known Gatka and had some basic Shastras at home? Every one of us could have defended ourselves, and many would have been deterred from perpetrating crimes against the Sikh community in the first place. It is not always necessary that we need a Sword (Kirpan) to fight as is evident in the interview with Bir Khalsa Dal’s Captain Sahib, Veer Kawaljeet Singh ji. Even for their two auditions in Delhi, they had to buy their own bana (traditional attire). To manage it one veer sold his motorcycle while others took loans. It is love for their Guru Sahib's vidya that inspires them to practice, and makes them willing to teach for free.</p><p> In addition to being great practitioners of Gatka, the Bir Khalsa Dal serve as role models in other ways: the group’s members are all educatedand some are in business too, though their youngest member, Manpreet Singh is only 8 years old. Anyone concerned that he is missing out on his studies should think again: his elders are ensuring that he works hard, and in fact he’s kept up an 80% grade average throughout these past 3 months despite the demands of performing.. </p><p> <strong>The message</strong></p><p> For Bir Khalsa Dal, their utmost desire is that Gurudwara Prabhandhaks come forward and facilitate every Sikh to learn Naam Simran and Gatka.
