SAD sources say Parkash wanted his son to take over so that he had sufficient time to “settle down” and “prepare” for the February 2012 Assembly election.</span></span></span></p><p> <span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"><span style="font-size: 10px"><span style="color: #000080">Sukhbir was appointed his father’s deputy in the Government for the second time on August 10 this year after he won the Jalalabad Assembly constituency bypoll. Earlier, the SAD chief had to resign after he failed to get elected to the State Assembly within six months after being sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister in January this year.</span></span></span></p><p> <span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"><span style="font-size: 10px"><span style="color: #000080">“The Chief Minister wanted his son to take over from him. We do not have any problem with that. It is part of their succession plan. Some BJP leaders have been of the opinion that the Congress was in a tight spot over choosing the successor to YSR Reddy as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh after YSR’s tragic death in an air crash. </span></span></span></p><p> <span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"><span style="font-size: 10px"><span style="color: #000080">The YSR loyalists have made the task difficult for the Congress by intensely lobbying in favour of his son Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is a first-time MP.
