These are valuable lessons for any parent for any child especially the ones who are very strong-willed. I have two daughters (both very bright); from my expereince of 9 years with them, I can suggest that at this age of your daughter; it is very important that she has a routine (nitnem) for all she does in a day. Children's memory is very sharp until the age of 6-7; so use these years to have her memorize as much bani , shabads & saakhies as you can. She will memorize effortlessly when you recite your nitnem in loud voice, just have her sit in your lap or even with a favorite toy around you...my younger daugher sat with us with her stuffed toy every time & older one with a doll with her head duly covered. :) we read the saakhies to them at night before bed time in routine. Kirtan cassette is very helpful at bed time to have her memorise shabads. Around 2.5 years she can begin to learn Gurmukhi on-line http://www.advancedcentrepunjabi.org/keyboard1.html Make sure she learns to speak & read Punjabi before she does English. Above all that, provide her with paints and crayons to draw all she likes amongst other toys that help her build her manual skills. I guess this is enough for now. Oh I forgot to mention the most important - Don't yell, try patience and give her lots of hugs - Feed her yourself if she does not like to eat as she is too busy playing. - Minimise TV watching especially English channels....beleive me she has plenty of time to learn that yet. Guru raakha!
