Dera Arvind Ji, I dont know about other countries...but in Malaysia it is certainly true. SIKHS are so "VISIBLE" in every occupation and industry... In fact our First Prime Minister Tengku Abdul Rahman once remarked.."IF we visit any malaysian General Hospital...from the number of SIKH DOCTORS..it looks like I am in a Hospital in PUNJAB and not Kuala Lumpur."... For about 50 years SIKHS have dominated the Professions like Doctors lawyers and engineers, teachers etc way out of proportion of their miniscule population..and it is all done through their OWN EFFORT..that is without any Govt Funding. At one time even the other races used to send their sons to PUNJAB for medicine and it was common to find a Chinese Doctor speaking to us in PUNJABI. On the WW I and WWII memeorials in KL and Singapore.the Sikh names far outnumber everyone else...population wise that is. It is only lately..that Sikhs have begun to be a bit "mixed" up..losing their IDENTITY...going into Drugs and alcohol crime etc. It used to be said that a ORAL testimony of a SIKH is worth TWICE the written testimony of another race..a SIKH in dastaar would NEVER ever be stopped by a Traffic Policeman..instead he would be Saluted smartly adn Flagged ON... but now we have "modern" sikhs distinguishing themsleves in white collar crime, drug related crimes and all..very sad. All is not lost though. We still continue to maintain some semblance of our past "greatness"..although its a uphill battle. In every "list" of University Graduates..it is so easy to Find SIKH names...in any Honours list it is the same story....and in the National service List..SIKH Names are far out of proportion to the other races... On the International Front we do have SIKHS who have attained the Top posts in Science..Father of Optical Fibres Technology is a Sikh..and a few others as well.. Sometime ago i read in some report on the Inteenret that SIKHS in ENGLAND have the Most Home Ownership, the Best Highest paid Jobs etc in Britain..the Most Passes in GCE A and O levels etc...same as in USA as well. The important thing is to maintain our UNIQUE IDENTITY..thats why we STAND OUT..and it helps us to DISTINGUISH OURSELVES. jarnail Singh
