By Parmjit Singh Published: May 9, 2014 Sikh Siyasat New York, United States (May 09, 2014): It is learnt that US based human rights group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) will submit a complaint to the UN assistant secretary general for Human Rights Ivan Simonovic seeking UN investigation into the gross human rights violations allegedly committed by Indian Army during June 1984 attack on Darbar Sahib and other Sikh Gurdwaras in Punjab and adjoining states. According to information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) the Sikh for Justice and other other organizations shall also be organizing a procession in New York city on on June 6, 2014. According to the Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) Indian Army committed grave human rights violations that amounted to blatant violation of several key provisions and protections guaranteed under United Nations’ protocol relating to ‘The Protection of Victims of Non-International Armed Conflicts (Protocol II) of 8 June 1977′ and ‘Definition of Aggression United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3314 (XXIX) – 14 December 1974′. According to Times of India(TOI) Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal advisor of Sikhs for Jusitce, said that they wanted the international community to break its silence on the 30 years long oppression of Sikhs in India. “We expect that the Sovereignty March would be attended by over 5,000 Sikhs and it will start in front of India’s Permanent Mission to the UN and will end at the headquarters of the United Nations”, Attorney Pannun added. “Indian Armed troops, in conjunction with the use of gunship helicopters, tanks and chemical gas, killed thousads of Sikh pilgrims including women and children. The Akal Takht Sahib was reduced to destroyed with tanks and the Sikh Reference Library, an irreplaceable collection of books, manuscripts, and artifacts bearing on all aspects of Sikh history was reduced to ashes by the Indian army” said Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
