[QUOTE="Tejwant Singh, post: 184909, member: 138"] Ahiyapuri ji, Guru Fateh. I have lived and grew up in Ferozepore with the Bedis and the Sodhis who claim to be related to the Gurus. Wadhbag Singh is related to Guru Arjan Dev via Prithvi Chand and so are all the Sodhis I grew up with. One of them was my class mate and has been MLA from Congress party in Punjab for a long time. They call themselves Gurus, Ranas, Teeka etc. depending on the family hierarchy. They have a Pothi in Guruharshai through which they rake money by just allowing people to have its " Darshan". The same thing goes for the Bedis here. They have the competing Pothi and rake money in the same way. All are womanisers, have had kids with different women including their maids and many are married to their cousins. Now responding to your initial question. No I have not. I would like to ask you, why would any true Guru Ka Sikh would have a Dera to start with? What is the goal of having a Dera if not creating one own's cult? The easiest thing is to look like a Sikh. The most difficult thing is to act like one. India, Canada, UK, and other countries are filled with "Sikh looking" people who have Deras and make money by fooling the ignorant. Radasoamis. Nanaksar, AKJ, Dodhra,Taksal/s, Gobind Sadan to name a few. Gobind Sadan is universally known and I had a chance to know Baba Virsa Singh quite well with his lecherous habits and his snake oil rubs. No Dera believes in Sikhi but applies fear tactics and then sell their own brand of snake oil. That is why they,[B] Blood relations in Sikhi mean nothing rather to the contrary. The proof in Siri Chand who was not handed over the idea based way of life called Sikhi by his father Guru Nanak. Bhai Lehna got that privledge. Ideas do not need blood relations to expand. Guru Nanak, and all our other visionary Gurus tried to eliminate from our Sikhi psyches the hierarchical ladder of relationships in which some get more respect than the others. Tayas,Tayees, Bhuas, Jeejas,Salis, In-Laws where daughters are married, older siblings get more respect where as Chachas, Chachis, Mamas, Mamis, Salas, In-laws where sons are married, younger siblings do not and in the same breath we chant," Sabh Gobind hein, Gobind bin nahin koi". This is sheer hypocricy that our Gurus through Gurbani and with their own actions tried to show us that these mean nothing and all should be treated equally but the old habits are like weeds, they do not die but rather crop up more often, sad to say.
