In Jewish usage, the term 'Son of ...' did not imply subordination, but rather EQUALITY and IDENTITY OF NATURE AND ESSENCE. When Jesus is called the 'Son of God', the issue is His personal Being or essence -His essential identity! Jesus claimed ONENESS of personal essence with God the Father. Thus for Jesus to say: " I am the Son of God."(John 10:36) was understood by His contemporaries as identifying Himself as God, equal with God the Father, in an unqualified sense.
