Soul_jyot ji Why are some able to recognize the truth of the Law of Karma in the sphere of their own lives, yet they take "wrong paths" anyway. We can apply almost any current social problem to the question. For example, the BP Gulf Oil Spill. I have read that there were at least 10 occasions, documented during US Senate Hearings, when BP corporate leaders made deliberate and conscious business decisions that favored managing costs over safety, over-ruling recommendations made by scientists and engineers. BP against expert advice decided to drill the well over methane deposits. They were well aware of the possible negative consequences. Now fissures are appearing. If a methane bubble locked in the bed rock of the sea floor erupts it will destroy the entire coastline instantly, millions will die, industries will be damaged, the atmosphere will be poisoned, and the effects will be felt not only in the Gulf region but up the entire East Coast of the US. Something similar occurred with the Bhopal Tragedy many years ago in India. Union Carbide took hideous risks, even knowing its decisions would detrimental to the health of people of an entire region. Union Carbide eventually sold its Indian interests and US interests to different companies and avoided further monetary liability. Today I read that the US attorney general has alerted Governor Jindal of Louisiana to be prepared for BP to declare bankruptcy, so that it can avoid further legal liability. Clearly a trail of misery has been created. Corporate leadership was aware of this truth, but ignored it. One who is aware of this truth is unlikely to commit any wrong deeds because he knows that good deeds produce good results and bad deeds lead to bad consequences. Recognition of the law of Karma will make people lead proper lives. People today take to wrong paths because they have not realized this truth. Corporate leadership was aware of this truth, but ignored it. Can we say they took wrong paths because they had not realized this truth?
