[QUOTE="harbansj24, post: 127228, member: 4544"] Tejwant ji, ? Yes Tejwant ji, they were the Swedes and not the Soviets. And yes I agree that the Soviets were never Lily white pure but the scope for massive capitalist type induced corruption is rather limited. As I have said in my earlier post, this would not have been possible because private sector was not willing to invest in infrastructure since the Industrial base in India was nonexistent and India had neither the income or resources to attract them. So the investors found India a high risk proposition in 50s but in 80s and 90s when Public Sector took firm roots private sector started clamouring for its share of the cake because it saw that investments could now be profitable. Therefore India had to start massive steel plants and electrical generation manufacturing equipments with the help of countries of the Eastern Blockand only later could shift to private sector. Finally, any system be it Capitalism, Socialism, Marxism or even Sikhism will be as good as its practioners make it. The time tested adage "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" is true for all the systems. Yeserday communism collapsed because of misuse. Capitalism is already showing signs of strain and tommorow it could be its turn. Even Sikhism is under tremendous strain thanks to its creative interpretation by interested parties!
