I delved into the Guru Granth Sahib and try to understand as I don't see the point of doing my nitnem each day without understanding it and following it.</span></p><p></p><p><span style="color: Navy">Your definition of spirituality and mine are very different!!</span></p><p></p><p><span style="color: Navy">Humanistic philosophies are not spiritual. They are only half the equation. Feet toward mecca was forbidden as the belief was that was where God resided. Guru Nanak Dev Ji proved God was everywhere. Feet not pointed towards Guru Granth Sahib Ji is a mark of respect. Thread ceremony was rejected as the thread was considered to be protection which is not physically possible. Khanda di pahaul ceremony is for those who want to make a commitment to the Sikhi way of life.
