ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥
Salok.
Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi)

ਪੂਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥
Pūrā parabẖ ārāḏẖi▫ā pūrā jā kā nā▫o. Nānak pūrā pā▫i▫ā pūre ke gun gā▫o. ||1||
Complete creator contemplated, complete so is known. Nanak, found the complete one, sing virtues of so complete.

ਅਸਟਪਦੀ॥
Asatpaḏī.
Eight stanzas hymn

ਉਤਮ ਸਲੋਕ ਸਾਧ ਕੇ ਬਚਨ ॥ ਅਮੁਲੀਕ ਲਾਲ ਏਹਿ ਰਤਨ ॥
Uṯam salok sāḏẖ ke bacẖan. Amulīk lāl ehi raṯan.
Words of the pious, are so esteemed. Priceless rubies, such are gems.

ਸੁਨਤ ਕਮਾਵਤ ਹੋਤ ਉਧਾਰ ॥ ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਲੋਕਹ ਨਿਸਤਾਰ ॥
Sunaṯ kamāvaṯ hoṯ uḏẖār. Āp ṯarai lokah nisṯār.
Listening and so acting achieves salvation. Self salvaged and salvage other people.

ਸਫਲ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ॥ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
Safal jīvan safal ṯā kā sang. Jā kai man lāgā har rang.
Fulfilled life, fulfilling the company of such. Such that has mind imbued with the creator’s understanding.

ਜੈ ਜੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਨਾਹਦੁ ਵਾਜੈ ॥ ਸੁਨਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਅਨਦ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਗਾਜੈ ॥
Jai jai sabaḏ anāhaḏ vājai. Sun sun anaḏ kare parabẖ gājai.
Of success and success the words resound in unison. So listens and listening enjoys such and the creator so shines.

ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਮਹਾਂਤ ਕੈ ਮਾਥੇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥੩॥
Pargate gupāl mahāŉṯ kai māthe. Nānak uḏẖre ṯin kai sāthe. ||3||
Creator so shines on the foreheads of the high and pure. Nanak, finds salvation with such.

Quote:

ESSENCE: In the salok of final Astpadi 24th, Guru ji state the completeness of creator. So finding the complete one in contemplation, now to sing virtues of such complete one.

Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 24, 3rd sabad provide great emphasis on the company of the learned and pious, listening to such as are so imbued with the understanding of the creator. Guru ji say of the words from these as being priceless, rubies and gems. These find salvation for self and help others do so as such are imbued with creator’s understanding. Life living in this mode is a successful one. In so saying the resounding words of creator’s recognition one in enjoyment shows creator shining everywhere.

Guru ji conclude that creator so shines through the pious learned and one finds salvation through such.
