| |  | | | Sukhmani Sahib Astpadi 22 Sabad 7 / ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ੨੨ ਸਬਦ ੭
ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi)
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਕੇ ਠਾਕੁਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਵਰਤਣਹਾਰ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਰ ॥੧॥ Jī▫a janṯ ke ṯẖākurā āpe varṯanhār. Nānak eko pasri▫ā ḏūjā kah ḏaristār. ||1|| Master of the living and life, by self so interacting everywhere. Nanak, only one so present, where has second been seen! ਅਸਟਪਦੀ॥ Asatpaḏī. Eight stanzas hymn
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਹਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਉਬਰੈ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥ Ŧis ṯe ḏūr kahā ko jā▫e. Ubrai rākẖanhār ḏẖi▫ā▫e. Where can one go away from such. Through contemplation of the protector is one saved. ਨਿਰਭਉ ਜਪੈ ਸਗਲ ਭਉ ਮਿਟੈ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਛੁਟੈ ॥ Nirbẖa▫o japai sagal bẖa▫o mitai. Parabẖ kirpā ṯe parāṇī cẖẖutai. Understand the fearless, worldly fear dissipates. Creator’s blessing, so human is saved. ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਖ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੂਖ ॥ Jis parabẖ rākẖai ṯis nāhī ḏūkẖ. Nām japaṯ man hovaṯ sūkẖ. One creator shelters, such has no suffering. Contemplating on the understanding, mind is comforted. ਚਿੰਤਾ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਟੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਹੁਚਨਹਾਰੁ ॥ Cẖinṯā jā▫e mitai ahaʼnkār. Ŧis jan ka▫o ko▫e na pahucẖanhār. Anxiety leaves and ego is erased. Such humble one is beyond anyone’s reproach. ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਠਾਢਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੂਰਾ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਪੂਰਾ ॥੭॥ Sir ūpar ṯẖādẖā gur sūrā. Nānak ṯā ke kāraj pūrā. ||7|| So over the head of one stands, the creator warrior. Nanak, such fulfills all endeavors. Quote: ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji recognize the one and only creator, master of all life and interacting with all.
Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 22, 7th sabad describe that there I sno place to go to or shun the creator as such is everywhere. Such protector and the contemplation of the same helps eliminate worldly fears, the suffering is removed and comfort is provided, the ego subsides while anxiety is removed.
Guru ji conclude that where the creator warrior so shelters the one so succeeds in carrying out endeavors. | Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.
