| |  | | | Sukhmani Sahib Astpadi 22 Sabad 5 / ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ੨੨ ਸਬਦ ੫
ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi) ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਕੇ ਠਾਕੁਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਵਰਤਣਹਾਰ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਰ ॥੧॥ Jī▫a janṯ ke ṯẖākurā āpe varṯanhār. Nānak eko pasri▫ā ḏūjā kah ḏaristār. ||1|| Master of the living and life, by self so interacting everywhere. Nanak, only one so present, where has second been seen! ਅਸਟਪਦੀ॥ Asatpaḏī. Eight stanzas hymn ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਅਨੰਦ ॥ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ॥ Sāḏẖsang mil karahu anand. Gun gāvhu parabẖ parmānanḏ. Meeting with the pious be merry. Sing virtues of the supreme creator, provider of happiness. ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਤਤੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ ਦ੍ਰੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਕਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥ Rām nām ṯaṯ karahu bīcẖār. Ḏarulabẖ ḏeh kā karahu uḏẖār. Contemplate on the mysteries of the creator’s understanding. So redeem the hard to get human persona. ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਚਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਰਨ ਕਾ ਇਹੈ ਸੁਆਉ ॥ Amriṯ bacẖan har ke gun gā▫o. Parān ṯaran kā ihai su▫ā▫o. With the purest of words sing virtues of the creator. Such is the solution to salvation of one’s life. ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖਹੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥ ਮਿਟੈ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ॥ Āṯẖ pahar parabẖ pekẖahu nerā. Mitai agi▫ān binsai anḏẖerā. See the creator close to self, twenty four hours a day. Ignorance so erased, darkness so destroyed. ਸੁਨਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਾਵਹੁ ॥ ਮਨ ਇਛੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੫॥ Sun upḏes hirḏai basāvhu. Man icẖẖe Nānak fal pāvhu. ||5|| Get the message and embed in the heart. Nanak, so get the fruits per mind’s expectations. Quote: ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji recognize the one and only creator, master of all life and interacting with all.
Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 22, 5th sabad describe the developing of understanding, singing of virtues with most pure words, redemption of the priceless gift of human life, This so allows one to be closer to realizing creator and the removal of ignorance.
