Salok.
Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi)

Sargun nirgun nirankār sunn samāḏẖī āp. Āpan kī▫ā nānkā āpe hī fir jāp. ||1||
By self the formless one is with worldly entanglements, without such and by self in voided contemplation. Nanak, so self created and such so seeks understanding.

Asatpaḏī.
Eight stanzas hymn

Jab apnī sobẖā āpan sang banā▫ī. Ŧab kavan mā▫e bāp miṯar suṯ bẖā▫ī.
When self honor was made with oneself. Then who was mother, father, friend, son or brother.

Jah sarab kalā āpėh parbīn. Ŧah beḏ kaṯeb kahā ko▫ū cẖīn.
When expert in all powers by self. Then who to recognize Hindu or Muslim treatises.

Jab āpan āp āp ur ḏẖārai. Ŧa▫o sagan apasgan kahā bīcẖārai.
When self was by self so seated in self heart. Then where would one think of good or bad omens.

When by self high and by self close. Then who was the master and who would one call the server.

Bisman bisam rahe bismāḏ. Nānak apnī gaṯ jānhu āp. ||5||
Wondered are wondering about the wonders. Nanak, self knows self understanding.
Quote:
ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji state describe the duality of the creator with worldly and without worldly interactions. One that has created all but still seeks the understanding.

Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 21, 5th sabad continue in reference to the originations and the creator being so at such a moment. At such time when one who could be parents, children or friends; when all by self what value any books of wisdom from Hindus or Muslims; when all from within then how could be there good or bad omens to impact; when all around as one then who is low or near and who to be master or the servant.

Guru ji conclude that wonderment abounds but only creator knows of self.
Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.

Sat Sri Akal.
