Salok.
Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi)

Sargun nirgun nirankār sunn samāḏẖī āp. Āpan kī▫ā nānkā āpe hī fir jāp. ||1||
By self the formless one is with worldly entanglements, without such and by self in voided contemplation. Nanak, so self created and such so seeks understanding.

Asatpaḏī.
Eight stanzas hymn

Jab akār ih kacẖẖ na ḏaristeṯā. Pāp punn ṯab kah ṯe hoṯā.
When creation took shape, it could not be visualized. Who could have done deeds ill or good.

Jab ḏẖārī āpan sunn samāḏẖ. Ŧab bair biroḏẖ kis sang kamāṯ.
When such was engrossed in void contemplation. Who would one create animosity or opposition to.

Jab is kā baran cẖihan na jāpaṯ. Ŧab harakẖ sog kaho kisėh bi▫āpaṯ.
When there was no shape or trace to be recognized. Who could have then experienced happiness or sorrow.

Jab āpan āp āp pārbarahm. Ŧab moh kahā kis hovaṯ bẖaram.
When of self, self and by self was the supreme creator. Who could have attachment or have doubts.

Āpan kẖel āp varṯījā. Nānak karnaihār na ḏūjā. ||1||
Own game has so self played. Nanak there is no second that could create.
Quote:
ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji state describe the duality of the creator with worldly and without worldly interactions. One that has created all but still seeks the understanding.

Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 21, 1st sabad post on possibilities at the beginning when creation became but without any visualization. Compare how there could be good or bad, in deep contemplative state who would have thought of animosity or of opposition. No shapes or memory tracks, who could have experienced happiness and sorrow with nothing to compare against. When the supreme creator of self and by self who could have attachments or doubts.

Guru ji conclude that creator plays the play by self and there is no one else so capable to be a second.
Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.

Sat Sri Akal.
