Salok.
Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi)

Sāth na cẖālai bin bẖajan bikẖi▫ā saglī cẖẖār. Har har nām kamāvanā Nānak ih ḏẖan sār. ||1||
Nothing goes with one except contemplation, all wealth turns to ashes. Creator, creator’s understanding is the only wealth worthy of making.

Asatpaḏī.
Eight stanzas hymn

Sanṯ janā mil karahu bīcẖār. Ėk simar nām āḏẖār.
Contemplate with the learned and pious people. Contemplate on one based on understanding.

Avar upāv sabẖ mīṯ bisārahu. Cẖaran kamal riḏ mėh ur ḏẖārahu.
Friend discard all other methods. Seat the soft feet in the heart.

Karan kāran so parabẖ samrath. Ḏariṛ kar gahhu nām har vath.
Creator is capable to do and get done all. Strongly hold on to the creator’s understanding.

Ih ḏẖan sancẖahu hovhu bẖagvanṯ. Sanṯ janā kā nirmal manṯ.
Accumulate this wealth and be so fortunate. Learned pious have this pure lesson.

Ėk ās rākẖo man māhi. Sarab rog Nānak mit jāhi. ||1||
Keep one wish in the mind. Nanak, all ailments will be erased.
Quote:
ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji state that all becomes ashes and the only effort that sustains is contemplation of the creator. Also only wealth worth making is creator’s understanding.

Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 19, 1st sabad describe the importance of contemplating upon and under of the creator. In the company of the pious is so determined to focus on one creator and contemplate, all other ways should be discarded and through humility presence of creator in the heart to be recognized, creator can do and get done so strongly relate to creator’s understanding, this one lesson is for the so fortunate and enriched.

Guru ji conclude that in the recognition of one all ailments dissipate.
Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.

Sat Sri Akal.

Re: Sukhmani Sahib Astpadi 19 Sabad 1 /

My dear brother Ambarsaria ji mundahug

I am really enjoying your Sukhmani Sahib and Sheikh Farid threads right now.

This Sabad was particularly meaningful to me because of the importance of Contemplation to the Christian religion, and especially Catholicism.

And I see a real link here to Sheikh Farid's teachings on non-attachment to wealth but rather focusing attachment on the only true wealth which is God.

The goal in Catholicism is to lead what we call a Contemplative Life - "A life ordered in view of contemplation; a way of living especially adapted to lead to and facilitate contemplation, while it excludes all other preoccupations and intents. To seek to know and love God more and more is a duty incumbent on every Catholic and should be his chief pursuit...Contemplation, the object of contemplative life, is defined as the complacent, loving gaze of the soul on Divine truth already known and apprehended by the intellect assisted and enlightened by Divine grace..." (Gurdon, E. 1908)

"...Contemplative prayer is the simplest expression of the mystery of prayer. It is a gift, a grace; it can be accepted only in humility and spiritual poverty. Contemplative prayer is a covenant relationship established by God within our hearts...Contemplative prayer is the prayer of the child of God...who agrees to welcome the love by which he is loved and who wants to respond to it by loving even more. But he knows that the love he is returning is poured out by the Spirit in his heart, for everything is grace from God. Contemplative prayer is the poor and humble surrender to the loving will of the Father in ever deeper union...Entering into contemplative prayer...we “gather up:” the heart, recollect our whole being under the prompting of the Holy Spirit, abide in the dwelling place of the Lord which we are, awaken our faith in order to enter into the presence of him who awaits us. We let our masks fall and turn our hearts back to the Lord who loves us, so as to hand ourselves over to him as an offering to be purified and transformed...The choice of the time and duration of the prayer arises from a determined will, revealing the secrets of the heart. One does not undertake contemplative prayer only when one has the time: one makes time for the Lord, with the firm determination not to give up, no matter what trials and dryness one may encounter. One cannot always meditate, but one can always enter into inner prayer, independently of the conditions of health, work, or emotional state. The heart is the place of this quest and encounter, in spiritual poverty and in faith..."

From one came alphabets/ words/ names. For all this basic creation, there is "CREATOR", there is always a sound current inside beings,
let the sound current inside beings, be of "CREATOR"
and
not of the created "Naam's" or created words.
