| |  | | | Sukhmani Sahib Astpadi 17 Sabad 7 / ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ੧੭ ਸਬਦ ੭
ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi) ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ ॥ ਹੈ ਭਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭਿ ਸਚੁ ॥੧॥ Āḏ sacẖ jugāḏ sacẖ. Hai bẖė sacẖ Nānak hosī bẖė sacẖ. ||1|| Present from the beginning, prevailing through the ages. Nanak, is present now and forever will be present. ਅਸਟਪਦੀ॥ Asatpaḏī. Eight stanzas hymn ਬੋਲਹੁ ਜਸੁ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਜਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥ Bolhu jas jihbā ḏin rāṯ. Parabẖ apnai jan kīnī ḏāṯ. Utter virtues from the tongue day and night. Creator has so given the gift to humble people. ਕਰਹਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਆਤਮ ਕੈ ਚਾਇ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਿਉ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ Karahi bẖagaṯ āṯam kai cẖā▫e. Parabẖ apne si▫o rahėh samā▫e. So contemplate with jubilation in soul. Stay imbued with own creator. ਜੋ ਹੋਆ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੋ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥ Jo ho▫ā hovaṯ so jānai. Parabẖ apne kā hukam pacẖẖānai. What happened or is happening such so knows. Recognize the directive of own creator. ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਉਨ ਬਖਾਨਉ ॥ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਗੁਨੁ ਕਹਿ ਏਕ ਨ ਜਾਨਉ ॥ Ŧis kī mahimā ka▫un bakẖāna▫o. Ŧis kā gun kahi ek na jān▫o. Who can describe the acumen of such. Even one virtue cannot be so described. ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਸਹਿ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਜਨ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੭॥ Āṯẖ pahar parabẖ basėh hajūre. Kaho Nānak se▫ī jan pūre. ||7|| Living in creator’s presence twenty four hours a day. Nanak says only such are complete humble people.
Quote: ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji state the eternal truth prevailing and so prevailing forever from the past to the future.
Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 17, 7th sabad describe the state of so linked and aware of the creator twenty four hours a day and being so blessed by the creator in so doing. Jubilation of soul, imbued with the creator, trusting in the goings on as of the creator, recognizing that the creator is indescribable and virtues so many to be defineable.
Guru ji conclude that living in twenty four hours awareness is the way of the humble and complete people. | Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.
