| |  | | | Sukhmani Sahib Astpadi 15 Sabad 7 / ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ੧੫ ਸਬਦ ੭
ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi) ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਨਨਹਾਰ ॥ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਉਧਰੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੧॥ Sarab kalā bẖarpūr parabẖ birthā jānanhār. Jā kai simran uḏẖrī▫ai Nānak ṯis balihār. ||1|| Creator has all power and is knowing of suffering. Nanak forever respectfully appreciates, in contemplation of such we are saved. ਅਸਟਪਦੀ॥ Asatpaḏī. Eight stanzas hymn ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਜੀਵਾਲਨਹਾਰ ॥ ਭੂਖੇ ਕਉ ਦੇਵਤ ਅਧਾਰ ॥ Mirṯak ka▫o jīvālanhār. Bẖūkẖe ka▫o ḏevaṯ aḏẖār. Reviver of the dead. Giver of support to the hungry. ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ ਪੁਰਬ ਲਿਖੇ ਕਾ ਲਹਣਾ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ Sarab niḏẖān jā kī ḏaristī māhi. Purab likẖe kā lahṇā pāhi. All the treasures are in such’s sight. One reaps the fruit of past deeds. ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਓਹੁ ਕਰਨੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਸਰ ਹੋਆ ਨ ਹੋਗੁ ॥ Sabẖ kicẖẖ ṯis kā oh karnai jog. Ŧis bin ḏūsar ho▫ā na hog. All is of such and only such capable of so doing. Neither second existed besides such nor there will exist. ਜਪਿ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣੀ ॥ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਇਹ ਕਰਣੀ ॥ Jap jan saḏā saḏā ḏin raiṇī. Sabẖ ṯe ūcẖ nirmal ih karṇī. People contemplate and contemplate day and night. Highest of all sanctity is such pursuit. ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਆ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਥੀਆ ॥੭॥ Kar kirpā jis ka▫o nām ḏī▫ā. Nānak so jan nirmal thī▫ā. ||7|| Through blessing any so provided the understanding. Nanak such person becomes sanctified. Quote: ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji describe the creator as all powerful and knowing of all. We are saved in respectful contemplation of such and to be so thankful.
Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 15, 7th sabad exemplify the one creator. Life giving, sustainer, purveyor of all treasures. Guru ji recommend that we remember we reap what we sow, all belongs to and is under control of but one creator, the highest of all deeds is to contemplate upon the creator.
Guru ji conclude that through grace understanding received makes one so pure and sanctified. | Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.
