| |  | | | Sukhmani Sahib Astpadi 7 Sabad 3 / ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ੭ ਸਬਦ ੩
ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Salok ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਹੈ ਸੁ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ Agam agāḏẖ pārbarahm so▫e. Jo jo kahai so mukṯā ho▫e. The supreme creator is beyond reproach and infinite. Those who revere, such are salvaged. ਸੁਨਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬਿਨਵੰਤਾ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਅਚਰਜ ਕਥਾ ॥੧॥ Sun mīṯā Nānak binvanṯā. Sāḏẖ janā kī acẖraj kathā. ||1|| Listen friend, Nanak is praying. Pious people have uniquely different style. ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥ Asatpaḏī. Eight stanzas hymn ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਦੁਸਮਨ ਸਭਿ ਮੀਤ ॥ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਨੀਤ ॥ Sāḏẖsang ḏusman sabẖ mīṯ. Sāḏẖū kai sang mahā punīṯ. With pious all enemies become friends. In the company of the pious, one is greatly purified. ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਸ ਸਿਉ ਨਹੀ ਬੈਰੁ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਬੀਗਾ ਪੈਰੁ ॥ Sāḏẖsang kis si▫o nahī bair. Sāḏẖ kai sang na bīgā pair. With the pious there is no enmity for anyone. In the company of the pious, one takes no bad steps. ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਮੰਦਾ ॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਾਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥ Sāḏẖ kai sang nāhī ko manḏā. Sāḏẖsang jāne parmānanḏā. In the company of the pious, no one is bad. With the pious, one finds supreme blissful. ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਉ ਤਾਪੁ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਜੈ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੁ ॥ Sāḏẖ kai sang nāhī ha▫o ṯāp. Sāḏẖ kai sang ṯajai sabẖ āp. In the company of the pious, there is no fever of egotism. In the company of the pious, egotism is eliminated. ਆਪੇ ਜਾਨੈ ਸਾਧ ਬਡਾਈ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥੩॥ Āpe jānai sāḏẖ badā▫ī. Nānak sāḏẖ parabẖū ban ā▫ī. ||3|| Such knows virtues of pious ones. Nanak, the pious firmly befriend the creator. Quote: ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji state the infiniteness of the creator and enormous value in of knowing so for salvation. Guru ji find the company and the virtues of the pious as being with the likeness of creator.
Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 7, 3rd stanza continue to extol virtues of one’s company with the pious. One sees all as friends, purity blooms, enmity dissipates, missteps are eliminated, no one appears bad, supreme blissfulness, and egotism is eliminated.
Guru ji conclude that creator only knows all about pious and creator is befriended by the pious. | Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.
