ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥

Salok

ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਹੈ ਸੁ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Agam agāḏẖ pārbarahm so▫e. Jo jo kahai so mukṯā ho▫e.
The supreme creator is beyond reproach and infinite. Those who revere, such are salvaged.

ਸੁਨਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬਿਨਵੰਤਾ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਅਚਰਜ ਕਥਾ ॥੧॥
Sun mīṯā Nānak binvanṯā. Sāḏẖ janā kī acẖraj kathā. ||1||
Listen friend, Nanak is praying. Pious people have uniquely different style.

ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥
Asatpaḏī.
Eight stanzas hymn

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਫੁਲੈ ॥
Sāḏẖ kai sang agocẖar milai. Sāḏẖ kai sang saḏā parfulai.
In the company of the pious, one beyond reproach is found. In the company of the pious, one is always beaming.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਬਸਿ ਪੰਚਾ ॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਭੁੰਚਾ ॥
Sāḏẖ kai sang āvahi bas pancẖā. Sāḏẖsang amriṯ ras bẖuncẖā.
In the company of the pious, the five are controlled. With the pious, one taste the pure essence of understanding.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਭ ਕੀ ਰੇਨ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਨੋਹਰ ਬੈਨ ॥
Sāḏẖsang ho▫e sabẖ kī ren. Sāḏẖ kai sang manohar bain.
With the pious one becomes like dust to all. In the company of the pious, one utters compelling words.
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂੰ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਅਸਥਿਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

Sāḏẖ kai sang na kaṯahūŉ ḏẖāvai. Sāḏẖsang asthiṯ man pāvai.
In the company of the pious, one wanders no more. With the pious the mind becomes tranquil.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਭਿੰਨ ॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ॥੨॥
Sāḏẖ kai sang mā▫i▫ā ṯe bẖinn. Sāḏẖsang Nānak parabẖ suparsan. ||2||
In the company of the pious, worldly possessions are dis-associated. Nanak, with the pious creator is ecstatic.

Quote:

ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji state the infiniteness of the creator and enormous value in of knowing so for salvation. Guru ji find the company and the virtues of the pious as being with the likeness of creator.

Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 7, 2nd stanza describe further influences and characterizations that are realized in the company of the pious. One happily reaches beyond, controls temptations and falling into traps, pleasant wisdom is spoken, one in humility becomes like dirt and so becomes peacefully tranquil.

Guru ji conclude in this stanza that instead of attachments to worldly one becomes one with the creator in happiness.
