me and one of my friend use to visit gurudawara sahib daily. i use to go with him in morning only n he use to go in evening also till sukhaasan. For few instances he complained (in lighter vein) me that dr. saab i'll not eat dinner tonight coz. i had enough karahh parashad today. when i asked why he told me that after sukh aasan bhai jee of gurudawara sahib requested me to eat the remaining karahparashad which is left over or either it'll get wasted. while i was going to bed, i was thinking how comes that the karahh parashaad of guru ghar is left over un distributed?? this only make two points i.e., either the sewadaar jee (81 yr old) is preparing too much of karah parashaad or else sikhs are not visiting the gurudawa sahib. Now the problem is that the gurudawara sahib i'm talking about is in the heart of one of the major cities of Punjab with majority of Sikh population. After few weeks i also forgot the issue. While on work i use to pass by one Mandir (hindu temple) which is also housing stay cows.
And here i got my correct answers why the karahhparashad of my beloved Guru sahib's ghar is left undistributed everyday. Ever 10th person in that temple cum cow shelter is a Sikh. what astonished me is the fact that sikhs of all ages visit it right from 80yrs to even school going kids. Here i'm posting the picture of the scene i daily watch with so much of shame, regret and sorrow. what would the kids (in picture number 4,5 & 6) will learn about their religion n faith when their fathers bring them daily to this place for worship of idols and animals before going to school??
As a sikh i expect these kids to go to Gurudawara sahib in early morning instead of these places with their parents, let them sit n listen to the hukamnama of Guru sahib n let the Bhaii jee or Parents (which is more important) to explain their child the meaning of the hukam n after that have karahparashaad n then drop the child to school.
But with regret n pain in my heart i walk away from this place daily.
So today i feel like my Guru is not asking me for my head.....today he is requesting me n other sikhs to come n atleast finish the karahhparashaad which is cooked daily n major part of it is left undistributed/ uneaten by the end of day. _____ Help me...what to do??______

Are you sure about that? Are you absolutely, 100% unequivocally sure?

Guru Sahib doesn't live in the Gurwdwara. It is an institution of learning. There are just as many lost and confused people as there were 10/100/500/1000 years ago. At least today we have Guru's light to guide us.

Before pointing the finger and lamenting at how misguided other folks are, perhaps we ought to look at our own lives first. What vices are we committing? Are we also lost in kaam, krodh, lobh, moh, hankaar? How are we conducting our personal lives on a daily basis?

What these people in the photo need is education. Instead of sitting and lamenting about how ignorant they are, why not take some action and go speak with some of them. Teach them about our Guru Sahiban, about their lives and their message. Educate them about Sikhi and Sikh ithihaas (history), and the distinct path that our Guru's created for us to follow, free from ritual and superstition. When they learn, the lamp of knowledge and wisdom will be lit within them.

So maybe Guru Sahib is asking for your head. Maybe he is asking you to be his instrument and help these people learn about Sikhi and obtain the gyan and wisdom you have.

Don't just throw up your hands in the air. Do something about it. Take action. Serve your Guru with your heart and your hands. Don't just sit and lament. None of the Sikhs in history just sat around complaining of a bad situation. They took matters into their own hands and acted. And as history bears witness, it only takes ONE Sikh to make a difference. Only One.

Yes am sure about this, that too unequivocally coz. the scene i use to watch daily make me think again n again what can i do?

Before pointing the finger and lamenting at how misguided other folks are, perhaps we ought to look at our own lives first. What vices are we committing? Are we also lost in kaam, krodh, lobh, moh, hankaar? How are we conducting our personal lives on a daily basis?
well said n thats why i never pointed out these people only but instead wrote "Dekh hamara haal" instead of "Dekh inka haal". i included myself in this mess coz. i know that some where at some point i am also a bit or more responsible for these state of affairs as far as i'm concerned as a sikh.

You are right that these people need education but the problem is that would my alone approaching them n talking to them about their state of affairs will solve the problem? and the answer is off-course a big "NO". what u r talking about/ suggesting is what i used to do 10-12 yrs back when i was a graduate student n people would just ask you to mind your own business. these things u r talking about suits movies or else where...

So maybe Guru Sahib is asking for your head. Maybe he is asking you to be his instrument and help these people learn about Sikhi and obtain the gyan and wisdom you have.
Acting in an heroic way or i mean an unplanned act, surely it is going to meet failure. After a long n planned thought i have made up my mind to constitute a group of 4-5 sikhs n together we'll try to talk with these people one by one n make them understand where they are going wrong.

Don't just throw up your hands in the air. Do something about it. Take action. Serve your Guru with your heart and your hands. Don't just sit and lament. i wanted to do something about it that's why i highlighted this issue. N sure brother we'll take necessary action but not in hurry and unplanned manner.

And i have removed the picture coz. i think that it is not good /appropriate to put picture here on a public forum. I regret posting the same.

Well done. I applaud your efforts. Would just add that when talking with people, think of it more as an education you are offering to fill in the missing gaps in knowledge, rather than teaching them "right" from "wrong". Usually people react negatively when told they are "wrong", vs. being offered some insight or information they didn't know before.

All the best to you brother, and may your efforts surely meet with success!

Guru Sahib kirpa karan.
