Dr. Harshinder Kaur Honored Dr. Harshinder Kaur Honored As Foeticide Prevention Pioneer BY A STAFF REPORTER BUENA PARK, CA – Dr. Harshinder Kaur, who is the first Lady Doctor to deliver a speech in Punjabi at the International Conference held at the United Nations Campus in Geneva on Women Rights in Asia recently, was honored at a large Sunday congregation at Gurdwara Buena Park on Sept 13. She urged the people to be aware of the dangerous consequences of the female foeticide and saving the lives of thousands of unborn females. Her book on Female Forticide, A curse (Bharoon Hatya – Ik Sarap) recently, released by the Governor of Punjab, Gen S. F. Rodriguez, is being translated into English and will be released in London shortly. A film based on the book is being made in Hollywood. Her articles have been pulished in national newspapers in USA, England, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Greece, Canada, Swtzerland and many other countries. She has been given the United Nations Laadli Media Award in recognition of work done on female foeticide prevention. (First female doctor to receive this award in 2008.) She is giving monetary help to 300 poor girls for their higher education. She has won international, national and state awards for female foeticide prevention. The large Sunday congregation at Gurdwara Buena Park raised nearly $10,000 in one hour for Dr. Harsh Charitable Trust for doing the nobel work of making people aware of the dangerous consequences of female foeticide. Gurdwara Buena Park donated $500 to her Charitable Trust. She is the grand daughter of Prof. Sahib Singh, who did the first ever exposition of Guru Granth Sahib and was awarded. D. Litt by Punjab University, the daughter of Prof. Pritam Singh, renowned Punjabi writer and Honorary Professor of San Jose University, California who was awarded D. Litt by Punjab University, and sister of Dr. Jairup Singh, former Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University - Amritsar and present Vice Chancellor of the Central University, Bathinda in Punjab.
