| | | | | Re: Radical Sikh leaders back Hooda on Haryana gurdwaras (New Kerala) I suppose everything has a political zone of importance -- not the least the decision to found a separate gurdwara management committee for Harayana -- whose story is a case study in the politics of religion. Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=26200
However, check this sentence. How political is this? Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=26200

Why are some of the above named getting into the act at this point in time? Or were they involved earlier?
Newsmaker stories generally fall to the bottom of the pile of new threads by the end of the day. This is one that I think needs to be discussed and analyzed. What is going on here? Who is trying to co-opt the developments? And are some hidden agendas now coming forward that were not evident prior to this point? I have many more questions like these. to discuss it. | | The following member appreciates Narayanjot Kaur Ji for the above message.

| | | | | Re: Radical Sikh leaders back Hooda on Haryana gurdwaras (New Kerala) So far no one has commented on this: " All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) president Karnail Singh Peer Mohammed?" Why is someone named Karnail Singh Peer Mohammed the president of the All india Sikh Students Federation? How Sikh is this organization? Who is the group and what do they stand for? What is their interest in the Hooda ruling? When did they and other groups mentioned become involved in the political discussion surrounding the formation of a separate Gurdwara commission for Haryana? Is this nothing more than political opportunism? Is it a publicity stunt? Is it a sign of something to be concerned about that is going on behind the scenes? Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=26200
Also, the article refers to Hardline Sikh leaders, "Hardline Sikh leaders" who are said to include Karnail Singh Peer Mohammed? How strange is that?
I am uninformed on this point. Please educate me. Any opinions? |

| | | | | Re: Radical Sikh leaders back Hooda on Haryana gurdwaras Now upon further investigation I discovered that the AISSF had been disbanded in 2004. That is a strange finding, because here in the Newsmaker article AISSF is publicly giving advice on the subject of how to avoid "a split in the Sikh Community." More about that later. Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=26200
I was able to find this about AISSF, an article that only increased my sense of bewilderment. The information that follows comes from a Canadian Government intelligence sources. But think about it! Why does a Sikh go by the name Mohammed? and Why would someone with the name of Mohammed lead an all India Sikh student organization. This is genuine confusion on my part. I do not pretend to be "in the know." India: The All India Sikh Student Federation (AISSF), including its objectives and activities, and its relationship with the International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) (2004 - 2006)
Current information on the All India Sikh Student Federation (AISSF) and its links to the International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) was scarce among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate. A specialist in Punjabi politics at the University of Missouri told the Research Directorate in 28 February 2006 correspondence that he had little information on the current activities of the AISSF. The AISSF is described in a report on terrorism by the Mackenzie Institute, an independent organization focusing on issues of political instability and organized violence (Mackenzie Institute n.d.), as the old student wing of the Akali Dal party (Mackenzie Institute May 2003, Ch. 2), while the European Country of Origin Information Network (ECOI.net) Website includes the AISSF on a list of militant groups in India (ECOI.net 9 Mar. 2006).Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=26200

Gurfateh.
The "Pir Mohammed" is the name of his PIND (village). Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=26200
Just like TOHRA is the name of the PIND of Gurcharan Singh Tohra late SGPC supremo...and BADAL..is the PIND of Paraksh Singh... Prof Inder Singh "GHAGHA"...hails form Village Ghagha..its quite common. Most of the Villages left behind in Punjab of Pakistan are named after Muslims...and there area few such in Indian punjab as well... You were "tripped"..by the unique Punjabi/SIKH habit of "must have poocchh" Tail...it could be Zaat---Gotra (Gills Dhillons Dhaliwals..or Randhawa..Kamboj etc etc...or it coudl be PIND..Town..as in Harjinder Singh sri nagar...or Iqbal Singh patna...it seesm we just cannot survive without our TAILS. he he | | The following members appreciate Gyani Jarnail Singh Ji for the above message.

Oh dear me So he is not what I thought. Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=26200
What about the other questions though? When did the militant groups discover that the separate gurdwara committees would be good for Sikhs. Is this recent? What agendas if any do they have? And what about AISSF? |

| | | | | Re: Radical Sikh leaders back Hooda on Haryana gurdwaras (New Kerala) IMHO..these "militants" ( a label that i dislike as it is prejudiced judgemental and attached by the media..according to these Media people each and every Amrtidharee Sikhs is a terorist..militant..fanatic..hard-liner blah blah blah..the ONLY "Good" sikhs are those who shave and carry out Hindu rituals disregard the srm..or keep dastar kesh etc AND cary out Hindu rituals like Navtej Singh Sidhu the BJP MP..in other words..following/merged in mainstream whatever that is suppsoed to mean ?? ) are simply trying to CURB the powers of the Badal Clique in any way they can...Badal controls SGPC..and its vast funds...IF those can be REDUCED by removing Haryana's 200 Krors why NOT...its a dent in badals pocket !! no matter how small..still a dent. These are all "fringe" groups...mann dal, longowal dal, barnala dal,1920 aklai dal, International Akali dal... etc etc and really have no political base large enough to defeat Badal in punjab SGPC elections..as they say a drowning man will even clutch at a floating STRAW. This is my reading of the situation....others may have theirs.. | | The following members appreciate Gyani Jarnail Singh Ji for the above message. | |

Having seen Delhi I think it would be alright having a Haryana SGPC but this political bickering is making me think otherwise. | | The following member appreciates AusDesi Ji for the above message.
