There seems to be a image circulating internet these days claiming to be a portrait of Guru Nanak. Does anybody has any concrete information about its origin?

Re: Authenticity of Portrait of Guru Nanak?

This was released a decade ago by the Nanak-SARI BABAS as so called Guru Nanak ji as SEEN personally by their Chief Baba Nanad Singh and also isher Singh. The Nanaksarees printed this picture in hundreds of thousands and distributed.

Absolutley imaginary as any other picture...the one and only AUTHENTIC Nishani of Guru Nanak ji is His japji Sahib, His Asa di Vaar, His Sidh Ghost, His Oankar dakhnni....etc etc etc in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Those Banis REFLECT the TRUE Guru Nanak as clearly as any IMAGE..KHALSA MERA ROOP HAI KHAS !!! ( Worldly mirrors and canvas project/reflect HUMAN BODY..GURBANI PROJECTS the REAL SPIRITUAL IMAGE that is mentioned in Mera Roop hai Khas...

Re: Authenticity of Portrait of Guru Nanak?

The subscript of the image says it was made by some painter in Baghdad. We know how poorly maintained the Gurudwara is there, it is a bit surprise that a painting of Guru Nanak would survive all these years!

The nanaksarees use the Bscheema post picture..BUT their dera released the black and white one too...reason is pictures of nand and isher singh also pose in the same way Guru nanak ji is supposedly posing in the colour pic.

Anyway its absolutley POINTLESS to argue over a PICTURE..becasue NONE of the Sikh GURUS ever wnated one...THeir following was huge and could have easily engaged renowned painters to paint their Portraits..Had they been interested.....BUT NO....what THEY WANT is for us to LOOK at their SPIRITUAL PICTURE in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji/GURBANI.
