| | | | | How do you define masculine/feminine energy? We talk of yin/yang the masculine and feminine, we basically all understand what that means in the physical manifestation of it. Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/leisure/36761-how-do-you-define-masculine-feminine.htmlReference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=36761
What does it mean energetically though? I've met women with very masculine energy yet very much a woman in the physical aspect, and men with feminine energy yet very much a man.
Is then yin/yang and balance an outdated perception? That there really is no division? *

| | | | | Re: How do you define masculine/feminine energy? I think by applying the terms "masculine" and "feminine" we are using our limited human perception of the universe... would you really say light is "masculine" and darkness is "feminine"? I get the idea it's trying to convey, but I'm not sure it's a literal one.
I have my beef with this masc/fem ideology because it usually goes something like this:
Masculine/light/active/good
Feminine/dark/passive/evil
And I say pfft to that. When applied to the universe I think it is a clumsy and primitive disection.
Humans have such tiny minds in relation to the universe, how can we even imagine to understand?
With regards to masculinity and femininity in humans, you might like to research the idea of Anima and Aminus: Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=36761
The human matrix is basically the same, we contain male and female qualities within us, and usually our birth gender makes one quality dominant over the other, but not always.
As an interesting side note, in traditional Wiccan rituals, there is a part where the cup and the knife are brought together in blessing the wine. The woman holds the knife (phallus) while the man kneels and holds up the cup (womb). This is supposed to be because ritually the woman has masculine energy and the man feminine energy. Thank Guruji for the simplicity of Sikhi! Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=36761

An aspect to this discussion might be the soul bride / husband Lord imagery used in Gurbani. We don't really believe our souls are feminine and the Creative Force is the only masculine element in the universe, do we? It is a metaphor, not a literal truth.

| | | | | Re: How do you define masculine/feminine energy? To me its all energy the only female and male is in the body we be given at the time we come in for the purpose of being HUMAN. To have those experiences that the physical body gives us. Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=36761
Being more femanie or masculine at times comes from the make up of our parents....as we are a part of their DNA. Our ubringing too can bring out that in our personalities. We so fear being "judged" as one or the other too much. For men if they let out that caring and compassionate side of them too much they are viewed "Girly" same with a woman that has the masculine side showing "tomboy".
There is nothing wrong in being whom one truly is and embracing that person fully, not so on the worry of what others think of us as we are the one's that have to embrace being whom we are the most. Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=36761
I have a name that is at times used for men and at times I have been thought on as a man....so be it...I can put on the "Pants" in the family if that role is needed or the long flowing evening gown and jewels if that be needed. Neither is truly me....but if the ROLE is needed I can play it.
Keep tuned in, Ishna.

Dependent vs independent = interdependent
Pursued vs pursuer = See Dance; captured, but not trapped.
Soft vs hard = just right
Water vs fire = solid gold
Earth vs heavens = heaven on earth
Mushy inside vs crunchy outside = perfect candy bar

| Though these were traditional male female aspects created by some intellectuals but they in reality they were never true. The words like joru kaa ghulam (slave of wife) were invented quite back because society itself has seen that many men were controlled by their wives. So men who behave strong outside used to be weak at home . |
