Libya, Haiti and Punjab – Seva in Three Continents

Libya:
Khalsa Aid volunteer Ravinder Singh Gill went out to Libya to deliver 25,000 of bottled drinking water for the refugee camp on the Libyan/Tunisian border. Ravinder helped distribute water, milk and food through sandstorms to the refugees on behalf of the Sikh community working closely with the UNHCR and Action against Hunger. This was the third water delivery to the refugee camps from Khalsa Aid. Ravinder Singh has previously travelled to Haiti to volunteer for Khalsa Aid, and now is the lead volunteer coordinator for Khalsa Aid.

Haiti:
Having witnessed firsthand the work being carried out under the Khalsa Aid Banner in Haiti, Andrew Duncan (Barclays Bank manager) persuaded friends Darinder Bhangoo and Sharanpal Suri to join him in his second mission. The trio, who have fundraised for all their costs, will be overseeing current projects including delivering food and vital essentials to orphanages , and carrying out maintenance checks on the water pumps Khalsa Aid installed over the past year and a half in Haiti.

Punjab:
Veteran volunteers Karam Kaur (Haiti 2011) and Kiratraj (Punjab 2010), are flying out this month to oversee Khalsa Aid Focus Punjab projects. Our projects in Punjab have seen rapid expansion this year including, Gurmat Camps, education and welfare for poor Sikh children, and monthly monetary support for Shaheed Parivaars, Dharmi Faujis and the families of imprisoned Sikhs. Karam and Kiratraj will be visiting and documenting the jeevanis of the families and helping to organise the Gurmat camps.

Khalsa Aid is dependent on the generosity of the Sangat to carry out such vital Seva. We are extremely grateful to the Sangat for supporting our global aid projects over the past 12 years since our launch.
