The relief program of Khalsa Aid in Haiti continues with another team leaving from the UK on Tuesday 16th March, to expand and develop relief operations launched in January. The team will consist of the CEO of Khalsa Aid, Ravinder Singh (second visit) and Parmjit Singh from Watford. Ravinder Singh has been in constant contact with Khalsa Aid USA who will be providing further relief materials via Dominican Republic, Khalsa Aid UK will coordinate the distribution of the relief materials in Haiti.

Paramjit Kaur has recently returned from Haiti, she chose to volunteer with Khalsa Aid due to KA being involved in several projects near the epicentre of the earthquake, Leoganne. Paramjit describes her experience as "an eye opener" and she describes the situation in orphanages as "desperate and in need of continued support". Paramjit spent 3 weeks in Leoganne, staying in a medical camp (sponsored by Khalsa Aid) and working very hard to provide aid for several orphanages in the region.

The previous team of young volunteers, Deep Singh, Prabhroop Kaur and Harleen Kaur from BC Canada did a sterling job in coordinating the relief operations for Khalsa Aid in Haiti. These young Sikhs were exemplry and the President of International Medical Teams, Bas Vanderzalm praised their dedication. This young team of volunteers were involved in food, medicines, medical equipment and water distribution, they worked very long hours in challenging conditions to provide humanitarian aid.

Bhai Ajmer Singh and the great Canadian Sikh community of Toronto is also continuing to support Khalsa Aid camps in Haiti, they have so far provided $10000s worth of aid which has included, over 1500 crutches, 16 tons of food and dozens of boxes of vital medicines. This time Khalsa Aid has requested the Canadians to despatch sleeping floor mats for the children in orphanages. The Canadian military has been working closely with Khalsa Aid to provide various facilities for the orphans, it has been a very effective partnership.
Khalsa Aid has so far delivered over 450000 Litres of drinking water, purchased and installed 8 various size water tanks ( 450,600 and 700 gallons ) in several camps, distributed several tons of food (20 ton container currently en route from Khalsa Aid USA ), purchased and installed a water pump in one clinic, set up a mobile medical clinic and sponsored another permanent clinic which will serve over 25000 people a year. The orphanages have had special attention where Khalsa Aid has been involved in providing food, clothes, medicines and shoes.

Khalsa Aid is dependent on the generosity of the Sangat to carry out such vital Seva, to donate please click on the following link
