AMRITSAR: Jathedar of Akal Takht Giani Gurbachan Singh has directed management committees of all the gurdwaras not to let them unattended at anytime of the day or night.
The directions were issued by Sikh high priest on Friday after some unidentified persons stole five saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib from a local gurdwara of Nullaha village near Chamkaur Sahib, Ropar and threw them into a well.
Giving information about the incident, Gubachan Singh said the saroops were stolen from gurdwara when nobody was keeping a vigil at Sri Guru Granth Sahib or in the gurdwara.
When the issue was brought to notice, managers of Gurdwara Chamkaur Sahib and Gurdwara Batha Sahib were rushed to spot to recover the saroop's from the well, he said.
"The saroops have now been sent to Goindwal Sahib for cremation as per the maryada," said Jathedar of Akal Takht.
Meanwhile, the management of local gurdwara of Nullaha village has begun akhand path'' in repentance of their grave mistake. He said it had been brought to the notice of five high priests that many gurdwaras didn't have the required staff to manage the gurdwaras.

"Every gurdwara management committee, be in India or abroad should ensure that there is someone is present at Sri Guru Granth Sahib at anytime of the day or night," he added.
