New Delhi: In a move to make cordial relation with the Centre, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal invited Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to inaugurate Mohali International Airport. He also sought the Prime Minister’s intervention for early election of Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC).

He met Union Minister of Forest and Environment Jairam Ramesh and requested him to approve the projects pending with the National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD).
During the meeting with PM, Badal urged to commute the death sentence of terrorist Devinder Singh Bhullar to life-term jail.

Raising the issue of storage capacity of the food grains in the state, the Chief Minister demanded Centre’s help to enhance the storage capacity grains.

Given the 49 lakh MT produce expected in kharif season, he said there is an urgent need of required storage capacity that cannot be feasible without the Centre’s help.

Badal said the project worth over Rs 700 crore is not being started as the NRCD has not given its approval yet.
