LFHRI Protests His Arbitrary Detention of S. Pal Singh

LFHRI condemned the illegal detention of Pal Singh of France by the Punjab Police in Punjab. India.

Lawyers For Human Rights International condemned the illegal detention of Pal Singh of France by Punjab Police and apprehends that he can be implicated in false cases. On the one hand the Punjab Government is talking about the deletion of names of overseas Sikhs from the blacklist and on the other hand, the Punjab Government is terrorizing the Non Resident Indians (NRIs) who wants to come India. Pal Singh of France who was the first one who raised the issue of ban of Turban in France.

Pal Singh was picked up by the Punjab Police on morning of July 23 from his house in Village-Dhandowal, Distt.- Jalandhar, Punjab,India and his whereabouts is still not known. Earlier Pal Singh was Picked up on July 17 and was released on next day.

Lawyers For Human Rights International strongly condemned the action of Punjab Police for kidnapping Pal Singh of France from his village and keeping him in illegal custody and appealed to the Punjab Government to disclose his where about and immediate release him.

What is arbitrary detention? Arbitrary arrest and arbitrary detention are the arrest and/or detention of an individual in a case in which there is no likelihood or evidence that they committed a crime against legal statute, or in which there has been no proper due process of law.
