| | | | | Usage of the Word - Akaalpurkh in Sikhi Dear Sadh Sangat, The word Akaalpurkh is used very often by Sikhs in everyday coinversations, in Kathas and in all aspects where Sikhi is talked about.Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/gurmat-vichaar/25590-usage-of-the-word-akaalpurkh-sikhi.html Please enlighten me to this query. 1. How did the word Akaalpurkh get into common usage in Sikhi when it is only mentioned twice -pannas 212 & 1038 in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji? 2. Who made this word famous and what was the reason? 3. Why not use the word Satguru, Ik Ong Kaar or many other words that are used Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=25590 repeatedly to express the ONE in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji rather than Akaalpurkh? Input from all would be highly appreciated. Tejwant Singh

Dal Singh ji
Guru Fateh.
I think your are confusing Akaalpurkh with Kartapurkh and Akaalmurat, the two are mentioned in Mool Mantar.

WE know for a fact that Sikh Institutions were in the hands and under control of Nirmalas, snatan hindus, udassi sadhus etc for nearly 200 years after Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Waheguru is not used even once by any of the Sikh Gurus Sahibaans..it is used by the Bhatts in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Akaal in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the opposite of Kaal/Mahakaal..DEATH ?? Time..??
Prevailing names of "Waheguru-AkaalPurakh, Karta Purakh... were Ram Rahim Har Hari Gopal Narayan etc as used in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji...Lets discuss in more depth.... | | The following member appreciates Gyani Jarnail Singh Ji for the above message.

The root for Purakh from Sanskirt means The living principle of the self which lives in the heart of creation. Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=25590
Akaal means Eternal and without form, therefore, indestructible and beyond time. Akaal Purakh(u) The Living Principle (of the Self) living in the heart of all creation that is Eternal, formless and cannot be destroyed. Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=25590
Which then gets to the bottom of the parts of Gurbanee which state that He is the Inner Searcher of Hearts who is found in all of His Creation. Or why in Sikhism He is nirguna and sarguna.
Kartar Purakh(u) The Doer of of Everything, the living principle, who lives in the heart of creation. Which gets to the point that He is Omnipotent and His Hukam cannot be over-written. | | The following members appreciate Narayanjot Kaur Ji for the above message.
