Badal to be Honored with "Panth Rattan Fakhar-e-Quam" Title at Sri Akal Takht Sahib

Takht Jathedars, Nihang Leaders and Sants Become PR Puppets for Badal-BJP Alliance

Sri Anandpur Sahib (KP) - During the grand opening ceremony of "Virasat-e-Khalsa" complex that orchestrated by the Punjab government at Sri Anandpur Sahib, the Takht Jathedar announced that on December 5th, 2011 they would be honoring Parkash Badal for his "monumental seva to the Khalsa Panth" by giving him the title of "Panth Rattan Fakhar-e-Quam" (Jewel of the Panth, Pride of the Nation.)

Badal given Siropa by Takht Jathedars for his "gift" to the Humanity

The opening ceremony had already been marred by controversy when Sikh organizations discovered that various anti-Sikh personalities had been invited for entertainment as VIPs to the event.
Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/controversies/37655-badal-honored-panth-rattan-fakhar-e.html

Despite the call for boycott and a warning by Panthic organizations that this function was just another publicity stunt by the ruling Badal family for the upcoming elections, members of various Nihang Dals, and sant oriented deras were present during the ceremony in which religious traditions were disregarded and flouted.

The function stage was controlled by former Member of Parliament Tarlochan Singh who is infamous for his surreptitious connections with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and various Indian intelligence agencies. He has openly condemned the Sikh Freedom Movement of the 1980s and 1990s, and has even criticized the idea of establishing a memorial for the victims of June 1984 Army Assault of Sri Darbar Sahib Complex. Sri Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, meanwhile, had virtually a nil role in the entire proceedings – despite being labeled as the highest ranking Sikh leader of the Panth.

Instead, the entire attention and praise was directed towards Parksh Badal throughout the ceremony. Tarlochan Singh gave the entire credit for building the complex to Paraksh Badal, and stated that this complex was his “gift” to the Panth and entire humanity. Shamelessly both Badal and Tarlochan Singh asked the attendees to support the Badals in the future so they could continue providing such services to the Panth – a direct hint and a plea for votes for upcoming state elections.

Even the sacred “Ardas” was not spared from politics. Performed by Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Tarlochan Singh while most of the attendees stood wearing shoes; Parkash Badal’s name was mentioned no less than one half dozen times. The Jathedar in the Ardas asked for the “charrdi-kala” of Parkash Badal who had “gifted Virasat-e-Khalsa” complex to humanity. Ridiculously, Sukhbir Badal later went on to state that this complex was now to be the “eighth wonder of the world.”

Despite the call for boycott of this function by various Sikh organizations, leaders of various Nihang Dals and sant-doms could be seen sitting in the audience behind the Akali BJP politicians and “VIPs.” Other members of Nihangs Dals were strategically placed throughout the complex on horse-back and on elephants for dramatic effect.

It was clear that this was no religious function, but political publicity rally for the Akali-BJP-Sant-Samaj combine in which Takht Jathedars and Nihangs were used mostly as side-show puppets for cheap publicity by disgraced leaders.

Shameless Promotion of Badal was evident throughout the Complex

It is sad to see our Takht Jathedars and organizations such as Budha Dal and Tarna Dal, which once lead the entire Sikh Nation and from whom kings like Raja Ranjit Singh trembled, now being relegated to being cronies of traitorous apostates like the Badals who have been undermining the sacred institutions of the Khalsa Panth and supported anti-Sikh causes for the last three decades.

By honoring Parkash Badal with a "Panth Rattan Fakhar-e-Quam", the Takht Jathedars will be repeating the role of the traitorous Jathedar Aroor Singh who under the directions of the British-controlled Punjab Government denigrated his noble position by endowing General Dyer, the villain of Jallianwala Bagh massacre, a similar honor at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Badal draws flak from Sikh bodies over award

Tribune News Service

Amritsar, November 26

Various Sikh organisations have reacted sharply to the Akal Takht Jathedar's announcement to award Panth Rattan Faqr-e-Qaum to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at Anandpur Sahib yesterday.
Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=37655

Former SGPC secretary and Shiromani Panthic Council chairman Manjeet Singh Calcutta, in a release issued here today, termed the announcement as "unprincipled" and said among Sikhs such an award was given to an individual for his services to the "Panth". He said there are several deserving Sikhs like Bhai Veer Singh, Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha, Prof Jodh Singh and Prof Mohan Singh who have served the religion immensely.
Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=37655

"If Badal has been given this award merely for raising memorials, then there are many Babas who have done a great contribution with their kar sewa," he said.

DSGMC chief Paramjit Singh Sarna said the five Sikh high priests should tell the community as to why they should feel proud of Badal. "Should we be proud of the fact that Sikhism is on the decline in Punjab under the SAD-ruled SGPC?" said Sarna. "Golden Temple's Head Granthi Bhai Jaswinder Singh himself stated at Anandpur Sahib yesterday that 90 to 95 per cent Sikh youth in Punjab had become 'patit' (apostate)."

Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwarpal Singh said the announcement had led to mockery of the significance of the award. Addressing the media in Hoshiarpur, he said, “Badal is not Faqr-e-quam (pride of the community) but fiqr-e-quam (headache for the community).”

SAD (1920) senior vice-president Raghubir Singh Rajasansi said the Jathedar should review the matter.

Meanwhile, Khalra Mission Organisation chief Harmandeep Singh Sarhali said the Sikh Panth would never acknowledge the award bestowed upon the CM as it was against the teachings of Sikh Gurus. He accused Badal of "rewarding the officials who worked against Sikh interests in the 1984 Operation Bluestar and the subsequent turbulent days of militancy in Punjab".

BJP for Nobel to CM

BJP leader Tikshan Sud has sought Nobel Peace Prize for Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for his “service to humanity as well as world peace during his political career”.

A Request
Anyone who is well versed with the Provisions of Gurudwara Act, 1925 may kindly contact me for clarification on some points. It shall be my endeavor to see that some thing is done so that Indian Courts are not approached to minimize the Government’s Intervention and some amendments are carried out in the Act itself. Much to the shame of Panth, in July, the issue of eligibility of Shajdharis to vote in election was decided by the Indian Courts. Our Panth is divided over the issues and there has to be unity amongst us.

If we want to let the above not happen, we shall have to invoke the writ Jurisdiction of the Courts as per constitutional provisions and the matter may go to the Courts again and it shall be in the interests of all Politicians be it BJP, Congress or RSS.

BJP will be happy to confer every award on people like Badal and co. who are gadaars of the Kaum and gradually undermining every institution of Sikhism.

Letter to the Editor

SO, the Jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Gurbachan Singh, is going to confer a khitaab on Parkash Singh Badal. He is henceforth to be known as Panth Rattan, Faqr-e-Qaum. Historically, it has been a rare thing for the Akal Takht to confer any sort of title. Even Sher-e-Punjab, the epithet by which Maharaja Ranjit was known was a matter of popular acclaim with no Panthic connotation. But then, naturally, Maharaja Ranjit Singh hardly bears comparison with Parkash Singh Badal.

Perhaps this is only the beginning and more titles will soon be rolling out of the Akal Takht. One can easily think of others who are (almost) as deserving of the Panth Rattan honour – Bibi Jagir Kaur, K.P.S. Gill, or Nihang Ajit Singh Phoola or Ajit Singh Sandhu.

The main criterion for receiving this honour is that the person must have blood on his or her hands. They must be acclaimed by ghostly voices such the dead and disappeared of 1984 through 1994, or that of the pregnant Harpreet Kaur. The late Akal Takht Jathedar Gurdev Singh Kaunke would certainly speak up for Parkash Singh and so would MP Jagdev Singh Khudian.

The new Panth Rattan will be remembered for suffering behind bars in Coimbatore throughout the dangerous days of the ’80s and ’90s. At that time, he even sent his young son into exile to the distant America. What sacrifice!

Badal makes quite a choice as an example for the Panth. His name will surely become a byword for Rattan (although maybe a different spelling would be more accurate).
