ਹੰਸੁ ਉਡਰਿ ਕੋਧ੍ਰੈ ਪਇਆ ਲੋਕੁ ਵਿਡਾਰਣਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਗਹਿਲਾ ਲੋਕੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੰਸੁ ਨ ਕੋਧ੍ਰਾ ਖਾਇ ॥੬੫॥
Hans udar koḏẖrai pa▫i▫ā lok vidāraṇ jā▫e. Gahilā lok na jāṇḏā hans na koḏẖrā kẖā▫e. ||65||
Swan flies into a rye field, people go to chase away. Ignorant world does not know swans don’t eat rye.

ਚਲਿ ਚਲਿ ਗਈਆਂ ਪੰਖੀਆਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਵਸਾਏ ਤਲ ॥ ਫਰੀਦਾ ਸਰੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਭੀ ਚਲਸੀ ਥਕੇ ਕਵਲ ਇਕਲ ॥੬੬॥
Cẖal cẖal ga▫ī▫ā pankẖī▫āŉ jinĥī vasā▫e ṯal. Farīḏā sar bẖari▫ā bẖī cẖalsī thake kaval ikal. ||66||
Birds flew away in turn who made the pool lined with merriment. Farid, the brimming pool will dry out too, the lonely lotus flower will wither.

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਇਟ ਸਿਰਾਣੇ ਭੁਇ ਸਵਣੁ ਕੀੜਾ ਲੜਿਓ ਮਾਸਿ ॥ ਕੇਤੜਿਆ ਜੁਗ ਵਾਪਰੇ ਇਕਤੁ ਪਇਆ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੬੭॥
Farīḏā it sirāṇe bẖu▫e savaṇ kīṛā laṛi▫o mās. Keṯ▫ṛi▫ā jug vāpre ikaṯ pa▫i▫ā pās. ||67||
Farid, brick as a pillow, earth to sleep, maggots in the flesh. Many ages will pass so lying on one side.

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਭੰਨੀ ਘੜੀ ਸਵੰਨਵੀ ਟੁਟੀ ਨਾਗਰ ਲਜੁ ॥ ਅਜਰਾਈਲੁ ਫਰੇਸਤਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਨਾਠੀ ਅਜੁ ॥੬੮॥
Farīḏā bẖannī gẖaṛī savannvī tutī nāgar laj. Ajrā▫īl faresṯā kai gẖar nāṯẖī aj. ||68||
Farid, the beautiful utensil body breaks, the connecting rope snaps. Angel of death, which house is guest in today.

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਭੰਨੀ ਘੜੀ ਸਵੰਨਵੀ ਟੂਟੀ ਨਾਗਰ ਲਜੁ ॥ ਜੋ ਸਜਣ ਭੁਇ ਭਾਰੁ ਥੇ ਸੇ ਕਿਉ ਆਵਹਿ ਅਜੁ ॥੬੯॥
Farīḏā bẖannī gẖaṛī savannvī tūtī nāgar laj. Jo sajaṇ bẖu▫e bẖār the se ki▫o āvahi aj. ||69||
Farid, the beautiful utensil body breaks, the connecting rope snaps. Such friends that are burden on the earth, how could such come today.

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਬੇ ਨਿਵਾਜਾ ਕੁਤਿਆ ਏਹ ਨ ਭਲੀ ਰੀਤਿ ॥ ਕਬਹੀ ਚਲਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ਪੰਜੇ ਵਖਤ ਮਸੀਤਿ ॥੭੦॥
Farīḏā be nivājā kuṯi▫ā eh na bẖalī rīṯ. Kabhī cẖal na ā▫i▫ā panje vakẖaṯ masīṯ. ||70||
Farid non-praying dog, such is not a good practice. Never came by walking five times to the mosque.

ਉਠੁ ਫਰੀਦਾ ਉਜੂ ਸਾਜਿ ਸੁਬਹ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਗੁਜਾਰਿ ॥ ਜੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਸਾਂਈ ਨਾ ਨਿਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਕਪਿ ਉਤਾਰਿ ॥੭੧॥
Uṯẖ Farīḏā ujū sāj subah nivāj gujār. Jo sir sāŉ▫ī nā nivai so sir kap uṯār. ||71||
Get up Farid wash up and say the morning prayer. A head not bowing to the creator, cut the head off.

ਜੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਸਾਈ ਨਾ ਨਿਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਕਾਂਇ ॥ ਕੁੰਨੇ ਹੇਠਿ ਜਲਾਈਐ ਬਾਲਣ ਸੰਦੈ ਥਾਇ ॥੭੨॥
Jo sir sā▫ī nā nivai so sir kījai kāŉ▫e. Kunne heṯẖ jalā▫ī▫ai bālaṇ sanḏai thā▫e. ||72||
A head not bowing to the creator, what to do with such head
Burn it instead of wood under the earthen cooking pot

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਕਿਥੈ ਤੈਡੇ ਮਾਪਿਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਤੂ ਜਣਿਓਹਿ ॥ ਤੈ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਓਇ ਲਦਿ ਗਏ ਤੂੰ ਅਜੈ ਨ ਪਤੀਣੋਹਿ ॥੭੩॥
Farīḏā kithai ṯaide māpi▫ā jinĥī ṯū jaṇi▫ohi. Ŧai pāshu o▫e laḏ ga▫e ṯūŉ ajai na paṯīṇohi. ||73||
Farid, where are your parents who you were born of. From your side such have left, you still don’t believe.

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੈਦਾਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਟੋਏ ਟਿਬੇ ਲਾਹਿ ॥ ਅਗੈ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵਸੀ ਦੋਜਕ ਸੰਦੀ ਭਾਹਿ ॥੭੪॥
Farīḏā man maiḏān kar to▫e tibe lāhi. Agai mūl na āvsī ḏojak sanḏī bẖāhi. ||74||
Farid, level the ups and downs in the field of mind. Hereafter the fire of hell will not arrive at all.

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਖਾਲਕੁ ਖਲਕ ਮਹਿ ਖਲਕ ਵਸੈ ਰਬ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ ਮੰਦਾ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਾਂ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੭੫॥
Farīḏā kẖālak kẖalak mėh kẖalak vasai rab māhi. Manḏā kis no ākẖī▫ai jāŉ ṯis bin ko▫ī nāhi. ||75||
Farid, the creator is in creation, creation resides in the creator. Don’t call anyone bad, there is no one besides you.

Quote:

ESSENCE: Baba Farid ji in great observational metaphors teach us to get away from pre-dominance of ignorance,. In Salok 65 he describes how ignorant people go out to get certain birds fly away to protect crops while only if they knew such bird has no desire for the fruit of such crop.

Baba Farid ji in Saloks 66-69 describe the passage of time and how the material life turns to nothingness at the end. Living in recognition of such an end is the message.

Baba Farid ji in Saloks 70-72 emphasize the need to connect with the creator. To the extent suing the metaphors that such head be cut or burnt in a fire for cooking food that do not recognize such.

Baba Farid ji in Salok 73 emphasize the need to recognize that we will come to pass by asking where are our parents.

Baba Farid ji encourage in Salok 74 to level life and be not too perturbed at ups and downs in life.

In the Salok 75 emphasize the need to be not talking bad of others. We are all one and the other is no other than ourselves.
