NORWICH, CT —Aug 9: The World Gatka Federation (WGF), in joint collaboration with the Gatka Federation USA, Sikh Art Gallery, World Sikh Parliament, Singh Initiative, and the Mayor’s Office of Norwich, is pleased to announce a grand event celebrating Miri-Piri Diwas and Sikh Veterans Day.

Honoring Heritage, Valor, and Community Service
Miri-Piri Diwas commemorates the vision of the sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, which symbolizes the harmonious balance of spiritual (Piri) and worldly/political (Miri) authority. In conjunction, Sikh Veterans Day pays homage to Sikh soldiers who served and sacrificed in World War I, World War II, the Battle of Amritsar, and historical battles for righteousness.The program will feature Gatka demonstrations—the traditional Sikh martial art—and will conclude with a formal tribute to fallen Sikh soldiers through Sikh Flag recognition.
Honors and Recognition
During this mega event, the World Gatka Federation and Gatka Federation USA will formally confer awards upon prominent Sikh figures in recognition of their outstanding contributions to community service and the Sikh Panth:- Lifetime Achievement Award: To be presented to S. Bhagat Singh (PA, World Sikh Parliament) for his dedicated service to the Panth.
- Panthic & Community Honors: Key prominent Sikh figures will be recognized for their sustained, impactful service to the global community.
