Thanks for asking about some of the comment by Swarn ji that I did not understand. I don't see him promoting chanting as found in the translation of Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa, but "meditation" in a different sense. And yes, to translate "naam" as name always causes problems.. No matter on that point, which can be discussed later. There is more to the immediate statement that has me mystified.

I don't know what this means/entails in practical ways:




and this one I do not understand at all
name and naam is the same. all bani written by guru sahban is siliar to that of sufies. that is why i wrote sufi. sikhs and sufies are followers of the guru or murshid. that why both are similar
chanting is not necessary but reciting God in the mind is absolutely required in order to follow that path

Page 191 Guru’s teaching eliminates worries and sufferings. Birth and death are eliminated and all peace attained. ||1||The fear eliminated reciting the carefree God. Reciting His name, the inner fire is extinguished. ||1||Pause|| Eliminate birth and death by eliminating ego. Pay regards to the devotee of God. ||2|| Recite the name of God in the mind in every breath. Collect wealth that goes with You. ||3|| Those who are fortunate; receive it. Says Nanak, touch his feet. ||4||57||126|| Gauree, Mahalla Fifth: The dried branches are made green in an instant

ਸਭ ਤੇ ਵੱਡਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭਾਵ ਅਰਥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਭਾਵ ਅਰਥ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾ
Sikh religion is based on the guru. so the guru is greatest of all
there are only 20 million sikhs. south of delhi the indians do not even know Nanak
how can Nanak be the greastest of all in the 7 billion people. ੂthat the meaning I think. youare all scholars . it is easy to comment on others by reading from others. let us sss

the recitation of God's name or naam has to be from the mind in the mind. if chanting can hrness the mind then there is no harm. and it is also good
