its a tragedy, but can we really say Sikh here. I mean the man owned and ran a pub that sold alcohol. He most likely drank alcohol himself. And then on top he named the pub after his sons name. Isn't drinking alcohol other than medical reason forbidden. It seems as the guy is being called a Sikh because he has been brought up in or around the Sikhi culture.

I believe this is an insult to the SIkhs that practice SIkhi in every breath. It's degrading who they are as a person of God.

Can YOU really say that he drank alcohol just because he ran a pub?
Should YOU really be judging him and concluding he's not a Sikh?
Can anyone be judged as a Sikh based on their drinking habits?

And can a certain practice of one person be an insult to another person?

The lord punishes the person that drinks alcohol. Then what do you think will happen to the person that provides them the alcohol and a place to sit and drink. IT's no mystery, but the wise ones here can ponder over it.

And why would the Lord punish a Sikh? Again no mystery.

I know that it is hard to do, but we could try to refrain from substituting our judgment for that of the True Guru - The True Guru who will also be the true supporter and true friend of the 4 children who were left fatherless. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਨਿਬੇੜੁ ਝਗੜੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥

By your logic every Sikh who runs a convinience store here and sells alcohol drinks it and therefore is not a Sikh.

Stop being so judgemental.

A poor man has lost his life, just be grateful you are alive.

selling alcohol drinks is wrong. There is nothing new about this fact. I wonder if the Gurus were selling alcohol to others and then in the evening going to the Gurdwara to preach drinking alcohol is wrong.

I think some are forgetting one of the pillars of SIkhi. Make an honest living.

IF you want to drink alcohol go ahead and do it, but don't justfy your weak actions by SIkhi. Have some self control.

Respected Bhai Jathedar Singh ji

When did you did you become Baba for the Satguru, Oh Creator of Malicious Gossip and Destroyer of Forum Threads?

selling alcohol drinks is wrong. There is nothing new about this fact. I wonder if the Gurus were selling alcohol to others and then in the evening going to the Gurdwara to preach drinking alcohol is wrong.

You are correct! The Gurus did not sell alcohol by day and preach in Gurdwara that drinking was wrong at night. Excellent point! Did the murder victim sell alcohol to others by day, and preach in Gurdwaras that drinking alcohol is wrong by night? The Gurus did not do it. The murder victim probably did not do that either. So far so good.

I think some are forgetting one of the pillars of SIkhi. Make an honest living.

And you of course are in charge of deciding? Are you the Gurus' deputy for the western hemisphere in the 21 st Century?

IF you want to drink alcohol go ahead and do it, but don't justify your weak actions by SIkhi. Have some self control.

This person was shot. Where does it say in any article you have read that he "justified his weak actions by Sikhi?" He was lying dying and dead on the ground-- probably in a pool of blood. Unless he had supernatural powers, or we are reading the script for a bad horror movie, there is no way he could be justifying his actions by Sikhi or by anything else.

Nothing you have said makes any sense. None of it is related to the news story. You are simply trying to make a name for yourself as the Messenger of Truth. Thus, when people argue with you and your conclusions, you believe you have the "goods" on them -- i.e., something to gossip about on other Sikh forums. Please do some spiritual reading. Start with reading about false ego and move onto readings about religious hypocrisy. After that take a course is introductory logic at your local community college. Consider only then a career in moral philosophy!

Your lack of fundamental compassion is a scandal. No one wants to read it! Save perhaps the "slap you crew" your friends in all your other Internet habitats.
