On TV the other night there was a documentary about a group of men who rescue women from ISIL. Some of the women they rescued were interviewed and spoke about what they saw and what happened to them. One woman was 21 when she was taken away, and held in a camp with other women. One of the girls she was with was 9, and used to be taken 'to the bathroom' by guards. When the woman tried to elaborate for the journalist, she started having a panic attack\PTSD\flashback thing. They also had footage from a stolen ISIL mobile phone, of some men sitting around bragging about how they will go to the slave market the next day and buy women, and teasing the younger men about not being able to handle the women, and genuinely, casually, talking about women like inanimate objects to be bought and sold. It puts all the daily troubles into perspective when you learn about the horrible life people have right here and now. It puts all the minor complaints into perspective. It puts life into perspective. What can we as regular people can do in response to such things happening in the world?
