Guru Fateh Gurmeet ji aka #24/7masti.

Welcome to the forum. You may post your questions and thoughts anytime here. This forum is the rare one that does not scrutinise anyone's questions and thinking.

So, please feel free to express yourself. As we are all Sikhs, I am sure you will teach us a lot from your own wisdom.

    Iqbal4567 ji,

    Guru Fateh.

    Welcome to the forum!

The interesting thing about your name is that Iqbal is a Hindu, Muslim and Sikh name and even better, it is also a male/female name. This shows equality that our Gurus had envisioned. Thank you for reminding us about this unique aspect of Sikhi.

We are all learners here. So, please do not hesitate to share your wisdom garnered through living.

You must have heard of Sir Allama Iqbal, a great Muslim poet. Here is one of his couplets.

"Asar Kuch Khawab Ka Ghunchon Mein Baqi Hai To Ae Bulbul !
“Nawa Ra Talakh Tar Mee Zan Choo Zauq-E-Nagma Kmyabi”

If there is still some trace of sleep left in the buds, my nightingale,
Then make your songs more plaintive, for you found their desire to hear your melody too little".

Allama Iqbal Poetry کلام علامہ محمد اقبال: (Bang-e-Dra-163) Tulu-e-Islam (طلوع اسلام) (The Rise of Islam)

Welcome Sharan. Life long learning is the need of the times. learning about yourself; your people; your world and go on expanding. You being a Sikh have to know why you are a Sikh? What you are required to be as the best Sikh? Where from you get all the guidance.?.......... As for guidance I will only advise you to know know fundamentals of Sikhi: Shromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee booklets 1 to 10; Sikh Missionary Colleges booklets; and many such booklets distributed buy global Sikhs specially meant for the same will provide the fundamentals. Rehtmaryada by SGPC will help you the Sikh way of living. learning Gurbani starting with Japuji and then going to Panj Panis and their regular recital will help you an insight to the spiritual angel; visiting Gurdwaras, congregations and Sikh ceremonies will help you to known the practical Sikh System.....There is no end. Having learnt you ought to propagate further what you have learnt and this is the process which goes on. Welcome again.

I'm a 31 year old white male from Texas who accidentally stumbled onto the guru's teachings, and they've brought me much peace. Not being raised sikh, I have many questions for the sangat. I look forward to learning and interacting with the SPN community.

    Welcome Sir,

No accidents here I'm afraid. Everything is planned by the "master planner" - consider it an invitation to treat.

    Goodnight

The Sikhs believe in continuous learning. Newcomers bring new ideas hence bring new knowledge, hence re most welcome. Sikhism is by choice and not by force. The true Sikh is the one who has accepted the principles and values from his true heart and abide these sincerely. Sikhs are purely humanistic; they want to live peacefully among others; help others in need an do good to all; even share their well earned earning; since they believe in giving to the needy; they care for feeling of others; protect others when in trouble. They do not believe in rituals and after life. You will find them most adjusting even in worst circumstances. Guru Nanak the first Guru (master) led them to a pious path and the ten following Gurus taught them the principles of Sikhism living these practically themselves. They are spiritualists by nature and follow the teachings of their supreme scripture; their Guru eternal; Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

    Hello everyone,

I'm Ester, from Barcelona (Spain). I recently (a few months ago) started reading about Sikhi. I became more and more interested, started reading some banis and mantras and finally one month ago I started visiting the local gurudwara. I've considered myself a "spiritual person" for a long time but so far I never considered a religious path, till now. I'm wearing a kara that a member of the gurudwara gave me and trying to learn as much as I can. But it is difficult without any guidance. I hope to find some pieces of advice here :)
    I have many questions indeed....
I also would like to get a name from the Guru Granth Sahib but I'm still too shy to ask for the first letter from the Hukamnama at the local gurudwara. Maybe one day soon :)

    Anyone from Barcelona here?

Blessings (hoping this is a proper way to finish a post......),

    Ester

    Good morning Everyone

Welcome to SPN ! Consider yourself a Sikh [student] by virtue of being here on this Forum.

From a spiritual perspective, forces n factors beyond your control or understanding have brought you into our community. We hope your stay with us is both rewarding and enjoyable.

In my humble opinion the best way to learn or indeed get an idea of Sikh Faith is to surf around the site and familiarise yourself with various subjects. This way you will have an understanding of the context and the perspective in which Sikh tenets are discussed. Or indeed, you may wish to go straight in and want clarification on the spiritual choreography within Sikhism, in which case question and answers would be the appropriate medium.

    Either, or - Welcome !
