You also must be knowing that Guru Gobind Singh made five kakkars essential for partaking in Amrit and for being called a true Sikh. You also must be knowing that the Guru's great-grandfather, father, mother, and his 4 sons were martyred for this great religion. Lakhs of Sikhs laid down their lives fighting to preserve Sikhism. If you are not a true Sikh you need not remember that and do whatever you feel like.
