The term 'ego' [haume] appears at many places in Bani. Sometimes the context makes the thing clear. But at many places it appears that one has to shed it down completey. What exactly is this Haume and how can one overcome this.?

Likewise there is another term ,'Duality that appears in Bani. What exactly is the meaning of this term in the context of bani.

Similarly the third and the most important one is the 'three qualities' of Maya in which man remains constantly entangled and does not reach the fourth stage that is stated to be 'Turia' state. What are these Tri Gunas[ Three qualities of Maya] that one has to overcome?

Kindly opine and one may quote the bani to support that one states , if it is required.

Regards and Thanks.

Ego<o></o>

‘Ego is built on hopes and desires. It lives in past and future. It is a store house of dreams. If one lives in present there is no past and no future. Ego cannot exist in ‘present.’ Enlightenment is also in the ‘present’. Be in the present to overcome ego
<o></o>
Ego wants us to be rich. People want power. We want to be different. Ego continues to seek name, fame, money, glory and sometimes religiousness.
Running after ego is like chasing own shadow. Our sufferings have come through ego. Pleasures are deceptive. Sufferings are illusions. Learn to witness to your pleasure and be above sorrow and pleasure and your ego shall vanish’….Swami Sukhbodhanand

Do you think that it would make more sense to have the words of Swami Sukhbhodhanad as a thread starter in Interfaith Dialogs.

This is actually a very interesting comment and can be compared and contrasted with Sikhism very well.

Ego /Haume has appeared in bani at many places and many times. There is no intention of having this as inter-faith dialogue. However, the concept of Ego has always disillusioned me and that is why this comment has been posted. One is free to quote from bani ,however, it is requested that ego is explained before taking up this exercise.Swami Sukhbodhanand is as good or bad as I am, hence one may not get alarmed by the name only.He is an individual soul only like all of us. In any case let us forget about him.

Haume vada rog hai daru bhe is mahe.

What exactly would be the meaning of this line what be clear only after the meaning of haume is clear. I am at the receiving end hence can only request for your contribution.
