AMRITSAR: All India Sikh Students Federation president Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad has urged the premier Sikh organization Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to clear its stand on Kumbh Mela.
His statement comes in the wake of SGPC accepting invitation extended by Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh president Mohan Bhagwat to attend the kumbh mela. Condemning the committee decision, Peer Mohd said Sikhs are a distinct community which does not believe in superstition and by SGPC willing to attend the mela, the Sikh leadership is attempting to bring the community back towards superstition against which the first Sikh guru, Guru Nanak Dev had started crusade.
Maintaning that Sikh community is known for its valour and bravery, the federation president added that Sikh community respects all the religions but forgetting one’s own glorious past and following the tenets of other religion is not acceptable.
