The bani you posted provides the alternative vocabulary for deer in gurbani. Whereas the modern term "hiran" is represented in gurbani vocabulary:

ouhu jaev saaeir dhaee leharee bijul jivai chamakeae ||
It is temporary, like the waves on the sea, and the flash of lightning.

har baajh raakhaa koe naahee soe thujhehi bisaariaa ||
Without the Lord, there is no other protector, but you have forgotten Him.

sach kehai naanak chaeth rae man marehi haranaa kaaliaa ||1||
Nanak speaks the Truth. Reflect upon it, O mind; you shall die, O black deer.

Guru Nanak

The alternative mirag and its variants are also frequently used as in this example of bani:

gur dhikhalaaee moree ||
The Guru has shown me the hole,

jith mirag parrath hai choree ||
through which the deer carefully enters.

moondh leeeae dharavaajae ||
I have now closed off the doors,

baajeealae anehadh baajae ||1||
and the unstruck celestial sound current resounds. ||1||

kunbh kamal jal bhariaa ||
The pitcher of my heart-lotus is filled with water;

jal maettiaa oobhaa kariaa ||
I have spilled out the water, and set it upright.

kahu kabeer jan jaaniaa ||
Says Kabeer, the Lord's humble servant, this I know.

jo jaaniaa tho man maaniaa ||2||10||
Now that I know this, my mind is pleased and appeased. ||2||10||

Another alternative exists which is also used in the Dasam Granth which is "koorank"

In common Panjabi culture the hiran is known for its beautiful eyes and a romantic may refer to his beloved as: Hirani de akh valeeya - Or "her with the deer like eyes." (Popular Panjabi song by Lembher Hussainpuri)
