I know there is a template in access. But I am brain dead and cannot
remember how to deduct something from the inventory list. I need to deduct
by weight as in I have a lot item that enters the factory with 1200 lbs of
product and I am now taking 800 lbs. I need to minus the weight from the
inventory. I feel like a real fool asking this.. but cannot remember how and
would just like to know if anyone knows of a good tut. I have searched this
site and MS access and have not seen anything like i need.

For an introduction to the issues involved, see:
Inventory Control - Quantity On Hand

For a more in-depth approach, buy the book "Building Access Applications" by
John Viescas (Microsoft Press, 2005.) On the disk that comes with the book
you get a working Access database that handles assignment of stock from
inventory to orders. That application alone is worth the price of the book,
and the book documents how it works so you can adapt it to your needs.

    Thank you Allen,
I have been wanting to buy a new book as I have really lost touch with this
program and have been thrust back into to do a large project. My current
book is out of date "Mastering Access 2000" and really falling apart and
missing pages. Would you suggest this as a good book for general reference
or do you have other favorites as well. You seem to answer most of the
messages that I have been reading, have you published any books yet. You
style is very helpful and easy to follow.

That book walks through a number of specific apps, so it's not a general
    reference.

For advanced developers, it's hard to go past the MS Access xx Developers
Handbook by Ken Getz et all, published by Sybex (where xx is the version
number.) It's 2 volume now, but vol. 1 might be enough it you do everything
    (all tables) in Access.

If you like John's style, his "MS Office Access 2003 Inside Out" (Microsoft
Press, 2005) is a good reference.
