Does anyone know how to customize the Windows Open/Save dialog box so
that the default value in the File Name combo box is not "" but "some
string here". I want there to be a default file name but the user to
have the ability to save the file wherever they want.

Use the API code in http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0001.htm

Providing a value for FileName when calling ahtCommonFileOpenSave will do
    what you want.
